Kevin Allen: Ten happenings that could make the NHL second half more entertaining Goals for Malkin. More suitors for Fleury. High-Priced rentals for the Rangers. How entertaining would that be?

Yeah my excitement quotient would rise if NYR adds Ben Chiarot. Jersey sales would go up too.

The Boston Bruins complete a deal for Jakob Chychrun and he ends up paired with Charlie McAvoy.

Any thoughts on how that happens?

Why are the flyers a piss poor organization?

Where does CC end up?

Talk to us Flyers fans Kevin. Never a bad word to say when they stink for a decade now

Boston is more likely to add Giroux than Chychrun. They need a #2 C

Lysell, Coyle, and two 1sts.

Lysell: B's top prospect, so a good, young piece who will be cost controlled in 3-4 years when (if?) AZ starts to emerge from their rebuild.

Coyle: After this year, his salary is below his AAV. For a team that can't pay the rent, that's attractive as he'll help AZ get to the cap floor.

Two 1sts: I think the B's have to pay a premium because their 1sts will be low and they do not have the prospect depth to get AZ excited with a few other pieces.

Edit: I see Coyle has movement control. So scrap all the bullpoop, above.

Edit 2: No way Coyle moves to go to AZ, unless he likes to golf a lot. I don't think Boston has the prospect depth to make this happen over other clubs who could offer more futures.

Just place a period right at the end there. Boston has no prospect depth after Swayman. We'll see on Lysell. The smart move would be hold on to him.

Even without the movement control, Coyle isn't the kind of player ARI is looking for. They can take scrap-heap players from anyone to get to the cap floor. They need to get a good return on Chychrun if they do decide to move him.

I was addressing the question by GIS about how Boston would make a deal happen. Some clubs in on Chychrun won't have the prospect depth of ANA, NYR, LAK, but they can offer players with AAV higher than their actual salary going forward. Coyle has phantom money on his deal going forward. He has a 5.25mm AAV, but starting next year, his actually salary until the end of his deal in 25/26 is 4mm, 4.5mm, 4.5mm, and 4.5mm. That gives AZ the ability to add another "C level" UFA and get to the cap floor with less payroll. True, they can sign those guys anyway, but Coyle at least offers that phantom money which is attractive to a club in duress like AZ and it is a chit teams like Boston do have if they can't offer prospects.

Me too, I guess if you write the headline first, then only have 9 points, you can fool most people by just coming up with some clever numbering.

6. The Boston Bruins complete a deal for Jakob Chychrun and he ends up paired with Charlie McAvoy.

9. Some unexpected team like the Minnesota Wild or Washington Capitals makes a run at acquiring goalie Marc-Andre Fleury.
