Who are the teams that might fall out of the playoffs unless they upgrade their back-up goalie? Can you list who you are talking about? Is it still Philly needing to upgrade on Martin Jones...because they aren't at risk of falling out of the playoffs. They are already out and have 0% chance of making it. Who else is there? |

Korpisalo has now been putting up bad numbers for two seasons in a row and while CBJ is on the outside looking in, it's not like they're a dumpster fire of a team; they're playing some solid hockey at times. Playoff teams should stay away IMO. |

Keep an eye on Kenny Holland.... he's bound to make a head scratching move.
Only Western Conference Teams looking into goaltending, as the East top 8 is set |

I have never been a fan of his BUT if Pitt could acquire MAF in any way.......They would have an edge on anyone in the league from a goalie standpoint. He was never one of my favorites but he and Jarry would be very formidable each and every nite and in the playoffs. Just a thought DeSmith is not going to do that for the Pens |

Pens are looking to upgrade their backup position, so I pray this isn't a direction they look to go.

The comment was some teams are looking to upgrade their back-up or they risk falling out of the playoffs.
While I agree Pitt likely wants to upgrade DeSmith...will they miss the playoffs if they don't address it?
Who else? Caps upgrade on Vanecek? Again, will they fall out of the playoff race if they do nothing?
Edmonton? They need a starter, not a back-up?
Are we talking about Dan Vladar? Any analysis to support this idea would be appreciated. |

If Jarry doesn't lose any significant time to injury then no, they will won't miss, but he will get burned out. He's playing far too many games and if he gets burned out by the playoffs it will spur the unfair argument that he's not a playoff goalie.
That said, Korpisalo is not even close to the answer. He has the 2nd worst GSAA in the league. He's a sieve. |

Just an FYI, try to avoid the temptation to blame Martin Jones, or even Carter Hart in Philly. Aside from the occasional bad game every goalie has on occasion, they have played well enough to deserve a better fate in many of the losses so far. The problems they're experiencing go beyond the crease, not talking about Covid.

Any chance a team takes on the Carey Price contract? |

jones (50% retained) for desmith + pick/prospect makes sense.

Depending on the pick or prospect, but sure, that would be great. I just don't think Philly makes a deal like that with the Pens. |

With regard to the Rangers, while they may have a load of cap space at the deadline, they have $10.6M in space for next season and they only have 16 players signed…so do the math on how much you can buy beyond a rental and re-sign Kakko, sign a backup goaltender, 3 forwards and and another defenseman to get to the roster minimum. |

I also like the line about teams stocking up on goalies. Haven't seen it yet. But sounds like it's coming. Good news for Khudobin. Dubnyk and Jimmy Howard are probably happy to hear that teams are stocking up! |

I mean, he started hot, but got torched in back to games on the Flames' last 4 game roadie. |
