If Holland was smart he would try to use this to galvanize his team. Walk into the dressing room. Close the door. High five Leon and openly declare Matheson to be an idiot. Then announce that the players WILL NOT be available to the media for the next week. Instead, Holland will be the one and only person available.

I want to see the table flip from Leon next time. Followed by him ripping his shirt of and the flexing of the biceps, followed up with a Macho Man “Oh Yeah”.

That would be epic and news worthy.

If Drai is going to show frustration on the ice surface, why is the MSM so surprised when he shows frustration during an interview process where stupid questions are asked over and over. I was frustrated just listening.

Matheson should not get a pass for that comment. "Do you actually expect me to come out and name players that I think are holding the team back?" could have been Leon's response. But "Everything" did cover it, even if it is cliche, and Matheson should have let it go.

Of course Leon's not going to blame management, coaching, or the goaltending.

The Oilers are a mess. They don't have any decent forward depth, a porous defense and horrible goaltending. Shut down McD and Draisaitl and the Oilers won't win. They have to make a few big moves but the team can't if they continue to have to beg pouty McD for his permission to make any changes. This team is in trouble.

Speaking of clown shows when I saw the Flames beat the Panthers last night I did a double take...but then FLA chucked the backup goalie at them and looked disinterested lol. Is what it is I guess.

They have the 2nd and 3rd best +/- on the team which has a an even goal differential. They both play 22+ minutes a night. Both have excellent CF% (McDavid at 62% and Leon at nearly 57%). They are keeping the puck in the opposition end. So they should back off, reduce their possession numbers and scoring because of your perception that they are all about stats and awards? Two of the most dangerous weapons in the entire sport but you think they should "do less of that"? That's your conclusion to solve this mess?

A talking head speaks to any of your players in that way you kick them out, not for a week but for good.

I personally think Leon's immaturity is a major problem, and I have for a long time...but this is a great strategy you've come up with. Hunker down together as a team and go to battle together, using Leon as the poster boy that stood up to the idiot reporters...I like it.

but yeah, Leon is not a leader and he has a ton of growing up to do mentally in order to become one. Not back checking, trying to go through 4 guys alone when the team needs him, he's always been immature on the ice, but to be immature in public is quite another thing, even if he's frustrated.

There are some great players in EDM and they need to just keep plugging away.
The goalie needs to be changed and the guys who claim to be leaders need to call out playes like Barrie, Draisaitl, bottom 6, etc. when they don't move their feet or when they keep trying B.S. low percentage hot shot plays (Tyson Barrie).

When it goes off of the rails like this, you'd think you'd hear about a "divided room" or some rough stuff in practices...but nah, these guys are just out there to be out there. SOmeone has to step up and actually lead. We haven't had it since Jason Smith in my opinion.

MSM and even some not so MS M in Edmonton have been circling the wagons around Jimmy ever since it happened. Ridiculous. They should be all over him for pissing in the gravy train but the local Edmonton media likes to think that they were the ones winning Cups 40 years ago and they still deserve some sort of deference for happening to be the guys that covered history's greatest hockey squad. Fools all of them. There isn't a guy from Terry Jones to John Short to Mark Spector that the city wouldn't gleefully tear apart if it did anything to ensure that Draisaitl would resign here when his contract is up. These clowns all know better though...

Flames fans are happy with being out of the playoffs as long as their in front of Edmonton. 18 wins for edmonton and they might fire their coach, meanwhile 18 wins for the flames isn't a bad season for them.

if Mcdavid asks for a trade then they will fall down to Jets level. Where players and coaches would rather quit hockey then play there.
