By this point if you think he isn't doing enough, doesn't play with enough heart, or doesn't deserve the captaincy of this team then you're either flat out stupid or just a hater. He is an elite 2C and honestly an effective 1C if need be.

Nobody is saying that now, and really with Patrick is that his chronic migraine and concussion problems have really derailed his career. Nobody could've known at the time. I mostly feel bad for the guy.

That's true. I was in the undecided camp on that number 1 pick. I thought Nico had more talent but hard to tell with him having played in Switzerland. I figured the front office knew more than me.
