I think he does end up in Winnipeg. Philly, Detroit and Vegas all have a good shot too, though

Hopefully Jets management can close the deal with Barry Trotz. It still feels like it’s to good to be true but fingers crossed. He’s a cup winner.
With the Jets being a mess defensively, I think it’s a perfect fit for the Jets team.

IDK, Barry being a defense 1st guy might upset this offensive minded team. He pissed off Matt Barzal.

The Jets offensive juggernaut scored 3 goals less for the season at 5v5 then the Islanders.

I would be surprised if Barry DOESN'T sign with the Jets!

I don't know Barry at all, but I think at this point in his career, he would be looking for stability, loyalty, a decent wage (not the highest offer), a chance to coach a team with potential going forward, a chance to get back in Canada and experience hockey fever at its highest, and perhaps a chance at upper management in the future.

Barry doesn't need the "big city life" or millions of $$$ - he wants a decent return for a job that he will do his best for a successful result. By successful result, I mean a contending team each year with a "chance" at Lord Stanley.

I think the Jets offer it all. Mark Chipman is a proven successful businessman, as is David Thomson, who will honor loyalty and reward those who follow this belief. They will give Barry the stability in their words, and I think Barry is a Jet!

Nice to see the Rangers knock off Carolina - and our Jets getting the Rangers 1st round pick!!!

Well said Grahamzky.

Bottom line is yes Trotz is nearing the end of his career and this may be his last stint at coaching. He did bring the cup to Dauphin for his day with he cup, and how nice would it be to be able to do the quick drive to Dauphin to visit his Father on a regular basis or conversely get his Father a condo in the Peg so they can be close to each other on a regular basis. It's not always about money.

For me, I'm just elated that something like Trotz being the next coach of the Jets is now a a near layup. I would have never dreamed of this scenario even a few weeks ago as he seemed destined to be a NYI for the next year. One even wonders if the NYI's though enough of Lambert that Trotz may have actually requested the release so he could jump on this dream opportunity for himself.

BTW...Philly is a shtshow, but a possibility ( see next post) , and too many distractions in Vegas for him to ever want to coach there. Jets are the perfect situation for him to turn-around.

BTW...I have not read much about Barry Trotz family. I do know that his youngest son Nolan is a special needs child ( now 21) with Downs Syndrome. His decision will also be heavily weighted by his family and their wishes. His other children are likely now doing adult things such as university or have careers. Usually Down's children don't adapt that well to new environments and new friends. I'm sure its something Barry has done a lot of research on with regards to a potential move to Winnipeg. This is likely the X -factor in whatever his decision might be.

It might be the only reason Philly is in the convo as his family might remain in NY which is only 90 minutes or so away.

I worry more about Detroit.

Good, young, upcoming team - and Stevie Yzerman night be a hard man to say "no" to.

I am with you guys! With Barry at the helm, we will solve the coaching issue that has haunted this team since relocation. Barry Trotz is definitely Ultimate Approved.

Trotz gets a 3 year deal as head coach, then he gets his wish and moves up to GM.
Chevy will either be gone or moved up to a Shanahan/Neely type of position.

I like 90% of this scenario. I don't think the Jets are winners until Chevy is completely gone from the management scene. I am hoping he proves me wrong.

I think Trotz is the best possible option for a wrong fit. He will improve the team, for sure, no questions asked.

I am worried that his hiring will inevitably start a rebuild.
Trotz is very much a defence-first, veteran heavy type of coach. He’s not big on risk or youth.
I think his hiring will give the organization the perfect amount of false confidence to try and “stay the course” with mostly the same roster as last season (that goes double with Hellebuyck saying he doesn’t want to be in a rebuild).

My worst case scenario is the Jets scraping into the playoffs next year under Trotz, not integrating any of the young NHLers on the Moose into the lineup like we desperately need to, and finding in 2 years time that we’re out of the playoffs, the core is aging, and your franchise goalie is gone.

I hope I’m wrong, but the Jets are a very much stuck in their ways thinking we can contend, and money trumps all with True North.

I very much agree, really don't think Trotz is a good fit for this group and his Maurice like tendencies are nothing I wish to see ever again.

If there's an injury to a top line winger are we going to see a Komarov type grinder on the top line??
Is Perfetti going to be put on the 4th line like Wahlstrom was in NY?.. Ugh, please gawd no!!

Trotz will no doubt improve this teams outcomes but at best this lineup could steal a round and be a 2nd round exit, this group needs much more than just Trotz if it truly wants to contend, this is sooooo not the lineup of a contender.

Trotz will get them a bit better and probably in the playoffs which will give them some belief in this group that really shouldn't be there and it'll allow Chevy to keep muddling along doing the same thing he's been doing for years which isn't good enough.

I hope one of the other teams Trotz is interviewing with makes him an offer he can't refuse.

I’ve never been all in on Trotz but the thought of Arniel or Vincent makes no sense to me. Why are we even interviewing these two, there are 6 other openings around the NHL and I’d be shocked if either of these guys gets an interview with any of them

I am more shocked that Charlie Huddy is not interviewing for the head coach position in Winnipeg. You would think that after 11 years of being the assistant coach that he would be looking for a promotion.
