That's a solid trade and signing.

It's certainly a solid trade.
You gave up very little.
The deal could be problematic if he can't produce last year's numbers again.

even if he doesnt put up the same numbers, he most assuredly would help the stale PP. It's known that players that come to LA have a drop in offensive production, no matter the era, no matter the coach.

He’ll definitely help any PP. He’s better than Kaprizov at getting the puck into the ozone. He has a quick release and is a gifted passer. Fiala has improved defensively to the point that the Wild used him to kill penalties. But still has a ways to go. Evason benched him for periods at a time for high risk cross ice passes, drop passes, getting
the puck stripped in high danger areas and not being engaged. When he’s engaged, he can be a beast. Your coach will have to be vigilant in holding him accountable. His loss is a big blow to the Wild offense.

I happened to catch a few MIN games in the last quarter of the season, and I saw him get benched in the third for long stretches. In one game, he had his ice time cut but then figured in to the GWG towards the end, maybe it was even OT, i can't recall... He'll probably play with Kopi, so he might get some of his defensive shortcomings covered.

The good thing is that he responds to being benched by coming out with a vengeance playing like he’s possessed. It’s fun to watch. He’s a great offensive player but I expect some regression. The Kaprizov line draws the toughest defenders so he benefits from that. But before Boldy came up, he was playing with two stiffs and creating numerous chances by himself. He should produce well if he’s healthy. Agree that Kopi will make him a more responsible player,

He always felt like the most dangerous Wild player in our games vs them.
