Time for Billy to put on the wizard’s hat.
I’m gonna sit at the beach while he figures it out. I have no idea what he may do.
Hornqvist seems the obvious one to try to move, but Zito did a lot of talking to get Hornqvist to waive his ntc and come to FL in the first place, will he try to trade him for the last year of that deal? Idk
I think they should keep Gudas

Haha. I like your idea, Rats.

The bummer about losing Hornqvist is that he’s the only one on this team that plays that role of going to the front of the net and battles. So if they lose him, they lose that important role.

They better re-sign Marchment if they’re gonna move Hornqvist.

If Zito thinks this core will get it done, he is only kidding himself. In the last two seasons Barkov, Huberdeau, and Ekblad failed, no reason to think they are going to get it done by losing other big-name players this year. Why would you trade your number one draft pick if you couldn't sign the incoming player to a contract? Minor league players will not help this club. I think Zito has dug himself into a hole.

When is Maurice going to pick his assistants? Is Brunnette coming back or is he the new San Jose coach?

Did you ever notice we sign bad players to high contracts. Dale Tallon Signed Dave Bolland to a five-year five million contract. The guy took a dive and went on IR. We had to push his contract off to Arizona along with Lawson Crouse. Then Tallon signs Anton Stralman to a three-year contract for 5.5 million and again we have to dump him to the Coyotes. Then Rowe signed Yandle to a seven-year 63. million contract and we have to buy him out. Finally, Tallon does one last stupid move by signing Bobrovsky to a seven-year ten million contract. Good grief Charlie Brown!

You can say the same for postseason Barkov, Bennett, Giroux and basically any other forward. Gotta also trade Hornquvist, he’s past his prime plus they never use him on the pp where he made is living.
One of the craziest moves I just don’t get is why draft Knight when you have Bobvrosky @ 10mil for long term years.
Weegar is another one that can go in my book

Totally agree with you guys on the big three. I have voiced my frustrations a lot about them due to their ability to play great in the regular season and then disappear in the playoffs.

I have also questioned if this is the core that gets the job done and I think we’ve had a number of runs that show it’s most likely not.

This is why I think something significant is going to happen where we see some big name(s) get moved at some point.

Here is my Panther trade proposal. Trade Huberdeau to the Coyotes for Chychrun and the Coyotes 3rd first-round pick. forwards are a dime a dozen.

Any else think get rid of ekblad??? Theres a possibility that he will keep getting injured and he never was very mobile as much as i like him it might be a good time to trade. Compared to what d are getting these days hes kind of a bargain. Just wish he could skate

It was stupid of Zito to buy out Yandle. He should have kept him. At least he was a serviceable defenseman. Buying him out you got nothing in return and you're on the hook with his buyout against the cap.

It was Tallon that made a lot of terrible signings. How did this guy get the reputation for being a great GM? Picking Kane and Toews was a no-brainer when he was with the Blackhawks.

I think GMs have a different perspective than what fans have on their teams. GMs have a certain window to get things done depending on the situation of the team they are hired to. Zito came into a win now situation. And that's likely why he's willing to part with so many picks and some prospects. He probably sees his window to reach his goal is within three years or so. I don't like trading away all of those young assets, but I can understand what Zito might be thinking.
Tallon came into a rebuild situation. And he and ownership were on the same page. But then ownership changed hands and they were not all on the same page within the management. And eventually that threw things into chaos. Right when they were turning the corner.
I think it's just our reality at this point. And we probably are just going to have to roll with it, and see if this group can get it done.
Hopefully Maurice can give them the structure they need. Because they really need it. I think that was Brunette's biggest weakness.

I know nothing about him (or any of the other picks, lol). From the little blurb I read, it sounds promising for such a late pick. Played in 35 games for national champion U Denver as a freshman, youngest kid on team (18).
I guess his birthday is right after the cut off date for draft eligibility? He already completed first year of college, where most kids start college after being drafted.

In the last two years how many 3rd to seventh picks have you seen make it to the parent club. That right nada. All these guys are to fill out the minor league roster. I'm still waiting on Denisenko, Serron Noel, Heponiemi and Samoskevich to make it to the NHL. Denisenko and Noel were drafted in 2018. They still haven't made the Panther roster. These guys were first and second-round picks. Who is zooming who? I believe you have to build through the draft to get a Stanley Cup Team, but you must keep your first and second draft pick to find NHL-caliber players. Zito did great on Lundell. I don't know how Samoskevich will do yet. But Zito giving away three first draft picks for short-term rentals was a big mistake.

It’s understood that late round picks are several years away from making the parent club, if they ever even come close.
Weegar was a 7th round pick.

Yea and a lot of fans now want to get rid of him as he made a lot of mistakes by getting caught flat-footed and the team being scored on while he was on the ice.
