Ill keep saying it. As much as i like ekblad, he seems ro be injury prone and is not very mobile. And compared to what d are getting these days is a steal at his cap hit. Package him and weegar so they can still be buddies. Dont know who would replace.... need another 2 like forsling

I think the Panthers will take a step back this coming year.

I would trade both Huberdeau and Weeger for Adam Fox or Makar. What you say, they would never trade them for those two? Well, my point is that Huberdeau is not worth the 9 to 10 million that they think he'll get.

Trade Huberdeau...lol....He's one of the top players in the league. Trade him why? For a shake-up? Top players go for that money, what they need to do is stabilize the ship and hope somehow some picks of some nature grow into roster players. Thats all they can do. Your first post is more realistic than this one, however. It may indeed be a step backwards THIS year. Just get to the playoffs, anything can happen after that.

Given the cap crunch do you guys think Bennett could be traded?

This core that they got has proven they will never make it to the Stanley Cup. Ekblad is injury prone, Huberdeau would rather pass the puck than shooting it and Barkov is not a true leader. He should have never been named captain. This core does not have the endurance nor the tenacity to go far in the playoffs. So yes shake it up. You build your team from the net out. They need defense and Adam Fox or Makar would be a great addition. But don't worry that will never happen. Centers may be worth 9 to 10 million, not forwards. They're a dime a dozen. The centerman helps them to be stars. This team will see an implosion. They have no depth and they have deleted the minors of all talent. When one of their big stars goes down with injury they will be in trouble.

Can't blame someone for rolling the dice, when they never had any dice before.

If Zito would’ve made no deadline deals, people would find fault with that, too.
We’ll see what he comes up with to maneuver around the cap issues.

Unfortunately, when he rolled the dice, he came up with three lemons. Now that he forfeited the future where does he go?

He didn’t forfeit the future, that’s an overly dramatic statement.
Losing a couple of late first round picks isn’t the end of the world.
We’ll see what he does from here on.

Spending picks/prospects is the cost of doing business when the window is open though.

Stings now because they couldn’t get to the Cup, but let’s see what comes of this summer.

I guess he could see an up-and-coming team. Tommy Fitzgerald knows how to build a team. He got a lot of great prospects and a lot of salary cap room.

Marchment is the biggest mistake Zito made. I got no problem rolling the dice but I think he did a poop job of planning beyond the last year rentals
