Big day for Seattle. They had a good draft but didn't get in on the trade market so time to make some splashes. |

Jones' numbers are a product of how bad the Flyers were. He actually played well last season. |

Jones is ok. Given the goalie market not a bad pick up.
Up front Burakovsky I wouldnt mind seeing coming in. |

Looks like D Schultz 2yr deal added on the back end. |

Stable pick up.
I like shorter term deals for Seattle here but there missing out on some depth guys. If you arent in the market for big names than get some reclamation projects. |

2yr 3mil a season. Not bad at all. Replaces tgat Lauzon/Fleury hole on the back end there.
I think honestly we have depth its scoring. Love to see them go after Palat, Burakovsky etc. get some scoring. Gotta add some cheap depth but think priority is getting some scoring in there. |

There it is!!! Burakovsky!!
Good job Francis. Solid day so far. |

I'm not in love with the numbers but it does give some scoring depth and nhl experience. Plus the contract shouldn't be an issue for signing other guys. |

Its not terrible numbers wise really. And Seattle has the luxury of time and cap space too so it is less an issue for them. Eberle making the same amount for two more seasons then comes off so really it is a wash overall there.
And Wright signs his ELC today as well.
Things are looking good in the deep |

Yeah I was hoping Giroux would go there but he decided on staying home.

Giroux being 34 I would rather have the younger guy with us already having Eberle. Not that it would have been bad mind you but thinking it was a solid signing and staggers things too. Couple years Eberle gone but Burakovsky is then 29. Francis keeps adding in the prospects and young guys and you have that nice mix with a few experienced guys.

Andrew Poturalski on a two-year, one-way deal. Top end offensive talent likely be in Coachella but still, coming off the season he had as one of the top in the A on Chicago. Nice quiet little addition there too. |
|
|
|
Magnus Hellberg to a one-year deal (750K AAV)
Added some more goalie depth. Nice
Brogan Rafferty, and Jesper Froden signed and added to depth, minors |

Over all I think it has been a solid off season for the kraken. Steady draft. Steady free agent period thus far. Didnt get into any bad contracts like mikeyhev |

I wanted the vet center who could really mentor Wright and Benier. Someone that can take tough assignments until those guys get their feet under them in the NHL.

Fair though you have Gourde, Wennberg, and Geekie that can play up the middle. Now add Beniers and Wright.
Add Melanson and Winterton signing now too.
It definitely has been a fine bit of work so far this offseason. I still wonder if they cant do more and pull off a big trade still. |

I don't know what's on the block for them to trade for but I wouldn't discount them out of something. Was hoping maybe Palat would go to Seattle too.

Took a quick look at remaining FA d-men because I think one more would be good for the team and depth. PK Subban, Anton stralman type guys maybe? Have to be cheap and short term.
Also, they have 10 million. Don't have to spend it now. Can easily just wait and see who needs to retain salary at the deadline type of thing.

Why was thinking some sort of trade. Stay well away from washed up Subban. Better for Seattle to maybe offer Toronto back their 2nd and a 3rd for Sandin or some sort of trade.
Loved to have gotten Palat too. But you have Eberle, Schwartz, Burakovsky and add rookie Winterton and that isnt bad. Plus McCann too and thinking Geekie might move to wing too IF they keep Beniets AND Wright. They have some serious options thats for sure. |

I think Dubas wants a player for Sandin.
Don't do what Vegas did and trade away all their early first round picks. Suzuki is a player in Montreal. I'd keep Benier and Wright for sure.
