It all comes down to whether you think Campbell can be the guy. I don’t think he’s an upgrade at all and will be much of the same as Smith/Koskinen were. No replacement for Keith. Broberg will be up and not sure that’s a good thing. Oilers will sign Yamo and let Jesse walk after he gets awarded too much.

He didn't do what I'd have done in some regards, but he did improve the team. Enough? That's why they play the games. Colorado may have taken a small step back due to UFAs and the cap; Calgary supposedly stepped back, though Gaudreau wasn't a playoff guy anyway. Start giving top players time off in January and beyond so nobody's playing hurt when it matters, and Oilers might do real damage this year. Now just give McDavid MacKinnon's aggressiveness...

How did he improve the team? Other than Campbell he’s added no one and Keith and Pul will be gone.

Campbell/Skinner is better IMO(and I'm not a Campbell fan, and he wouldn't have been my target). I don't think Puljujarvi fits here or will produce up to expectations or contract cost. If they can't plug in someone better, fire the scouts. All of them, even the ones in the old boys club. Kane's deal doesn't just provide Kane; it's provides cost/roster certainty in a position where that hasn't been a thing. Keith's retirement is addition through subtraction(at that cap hit anyway). Move Barrie just for cap space(and/or a Larsson type) and start camp. Golf season is over.

just gave keith's cap hit to EKane and "improved" the goalie situation, that defense still looks piss poor at stopping anything or anyone

And the bottom six is still full of guys who weren't good enough to fill those same rolls on previous teams years ago.

I am in favor of swapping out Barrie for a more defensive option, and would be happy with Soucy, just not sure why Seattle would move him. It is roomered that they offered Klingberg a 3x8 deal, so maybe Barrie would be on their radar as a fall-back, but it seem silly to me. They have 6 D under contract, all listed as either RD or LD/RD, and just signed Schultz (who is Barrie'ish). They can't afford to move a LD.

Florida, on the other hand, is roomered to be contemplating moving Weegar or Montour to make cap space. A third team would need to be involved to get Barrie in the mix, but that seems like a more plausible option.

I'm tired of this trend of people putting periods on the end of questions but expecting answers.

Do you ever get tired of being a moron?? I’ve asked you many times to disprove anything I’ve said with some facts and you never do. Typical fanboi.

A mistake on their part if true.

Let’s hope they do it.

Comparing EDM defensive pairings to COL is laughable. 1-6 Colorado is superior at every position. Granted, COL has the best blue line in the league, but I don't see how EDM is competing against them. Fortunately for them the Pacific is weak enough that McDrasaitl staying healthy is sufficient to qualify for the postseason. Like many pretenders, they'll need God-like goaltending to contend.

How many years do Crosby and Malkin have left? Just wondering how long until that rebuild begins and the Pens are at the bottom of the league for years to come.

If you want a dynasty like CHI and PIT had during the cap era, a team needs to suck for a long time and collect high end draft picks with depth to develop with them. I wish PIT would have rebuilt already. Hextall is far too stupid to build around aging stars- if it can be done at all. If PIT have a lottery pick next year, Bettman will ensure they'll get Bedard. They'll likely go the route DET did and keep being a pretender for their useless consecutive postseason berths.

Got news for you that you should probably take to Katz, how the league was pre-2005 is very different to how it is now.
