If we run a 23 man roster it reduces the overage to around 2 million, assuming Danforth , Gauce, Tarasov, Bayreuther, Meyer all go down.

Worst case scenario, we're stuck buying out Nyqusit (I hate this because he's actually been quite decent for the salary given).

Good for him, glad he finally found a place he likes. Hopefully he'll get back to be a 50 goal guy.

Alex,

Totally agree with your post. Zak, nice writeup too.

I will not be surprised if there is a trade in the works for another defenseman or maybe a center. Who knows, maybe even an upgrade at goalie is a possibility but that would mean at least one young prospect defenseman would have to be in the deal. Even a trade for future considerations is fine by me.

I wish the length of the contract is longer even if they had to pay him more. But the next four years can be very interesting for the CBJ.

Good # for a pure goal scorer... he will thrive with Johnny Cbus.

The reasons why are IMO:

1. Seattle wouldn't do a deal for an older player. They want a young player or lots of prospects. They got a good player for their future and the CBJ got under the cap for Liane's contract.

2. The CBJ did get 2 reasonable draft choices for the future.

3. The CBJ has a young roster and lots of prospects. Now they have a spot for one of them to play good minutes.

It's a fair trade for both sides.

Nyquist is next i would imagine. Still need to clear close to 5 million for the salaries of Jenner and Texier which are still on LTIR on CapFriendly.

2 and 3 agree for sure. 1 prolly
More Seattle focused. Def under market value in deal. Assuming they don’t want cap overage to linger whole summer and come a preseason problem

Jenner & Texier are not on LTIR, just IR. Their cap it is already calculated in. CBJ can send players to AHL and be over 2 million under the cap
