surprised, but not unhappy they resigned him. was hoping the pens did not pay him $3M but i thought he would get north of 2M from another team. what were his stats in prior years outside of points totals?
now if hextall can figure out a way to trade mcginn and a D-man. |

I mean, Burke said something to the effect of them being more concerned with bringing in forwards right before, or when, UFA seasons started, didnt he? Then they added 3-dmen hahah...but just because they did that to the D it doesnt mean they are not looking and trying to add forwards in the background.
Hard not to be pleased with this signing and now I chose to look at Kap's and Heiny's cap hits as 2.1 mill each hahah |
|
|
|
2.1 mil each is a nice mental hurdle to make the Kap signing more palatable haha |

I think they signed Archibald for that 4th line spot with Blueger and McGinn
Nice to see Heinen back. Guess this means DOC and the prospects are blocked again. Well, guess his ceiling is probably not much better if at all than Heinen. - Tojo.
You're probably right about Archibald, but here's to hoping you're not lol.
Prospects are blocked again, but let's remember this is the Penguins. I'd say there's at least a 65% chance someone won't be healthy to start the season. This is a big reason I wish Kap wasn't re-signed. Not only could they have spent that money better, they could have at least gone into the season without him, let the young guys try and prove themselves then make a trade with that space available. |

Heinen is such a sabermetrics darling a dynamic skater and has a good attitude.
The penguins have a penchant for finding these types of players. |

Heinen? Dynamic skater though? |

Some form of Dumoulin/Pettersson/Kapanen for Puljujarvi would make it a net positive off-season imo.
Wouldnt mind picking up Johan Larsson or E-Rod either. |

I really like the idea of Puljujarvi but wouldn’t be upset with a Dumo/Petts or Zucker/Kap cap dump either. We should then be able to sign some form of Larsson, E-Rod and/or Milano. That would vastly improve the depth and bottom 6.
A lot of moving parts and wishful thinking but it’d make this off-season a lot more palatable. |

I bet we could find a taker for McGinn. He'd be the odd man out tbh. We have options 3 times cheaper for the 4th line and we could bring Rodrigues, Steel or Milano.
While I don't like Zucker's and Pettersson's contracts they are in a good position to produce for us if they stay. |

I think he's just a gamer. Does the little things well, good shot and has a decent hockey IQ. A staple on any 3rd line. An underpaid NHLer. |

We can't move Petterson, that would be a bad idea. Dumo I wouldn't care I guess but we'd probably have to bring in a LD. Let's just try and make a deal with Zuck & Kap for Miller haha, add whatever. |

I was just looking ahead to possible available deadline rentals. Some of these will probably out of reach for the Pens because there will likely be bidding wars, but some may be attainable. These are not players I'm saying I want. Just some of the main names that I think will likely be available:
Nyquist
Okposo
Lucic
Meier
Drouin
Hornqvist
Dadonov
A. Johnsson
Byron
Athanasiou
Sundqvist
Hinostroza
Watson
Grant
Donato
