Whelp......if we lose, at least we can goon it up.

Need at least a couple of million dollars to sign our remaining RFAs.

Who are we trading (or buying out)?

You see any players getting a PTO offered by the Flyers.

Are Tanner (center) and Isacc ( LW) his competition?

Only RFA left of note is Allison. The others are Högberg, Hodgson and Jackson Cates.

Allison also. Laczynski can play wing as comfortably as he plays center. So I guess Patrick Brown could additionally be on the roster bubble list.

Too early to tell if there will be PTOs: What remaining UFAs will sign bargain deals somewhere? Will there be any additional off-season injuries? Will have a better idea come September.

Some solid free agents out there who will likely sign cheap deals. Some teams will get a bargain.

Not chuck as capped out, lol. So funny to even type that.

The 4th line center spot is there for the taking for Tanner. At least it should be. Same with the 4th line wing.

Bill, NHL site free agency tracker does not list J Cates, but does also list Ustamenko.

I woke up today and decided this has to be a tank job by the front office. No way do they have this off-season after losing Giroux and the circus that was last season and Chuck still has a job. Right? Right?

Bill, I need some clarification on the Mac Contract; I checked and NHL Qualifying Rukes say a 5% Raise is required and I believe what he got was 9%... the numbers aren't jiving for me... also, per you Blog it seems he signed for less than his Qualifying Offer. I'm confused... either I have the facts wrong or he signed for less than his QO, which doesn't make sense unless there are circumstances involved I'm not getting... or grasping.

In any case, the fears some had on the Arbitration are now gone, as i expected... and the contract is less than I believe anyone expected and/or hoped.

The first sex weeks of the schedule is brutal. Every team they play but Montreal has a better roster.

His QO would have been a two way contract because he only played 126 NHL games the past three seasons. A QO is based on the salary from their most recent season, not the contract AAV. So MacEwen's QO was actually 1.05 * $950,000 = $997,500.

No one should have expected $1m or more in arbitration for an RFA with 9 points.

Ahhhh... the circumstances I was talking about; Thanks, that makes sense now. I didn't realize that the QO could be a two way -- I guess it is based off his previous one that must have been such -- I don't believe that fact was mentioned; if it was, I flat out missed it.

Ustimenko wasn't qualified (along w/ Strome and Sushko). He's UFA.

Cates is a Group II RFA, as per Capfriendly.

Thanks for the edit with more info. While I agree on that expectation, there were alot of chatter on his asking for, and being awarded higher... people were discussing the walk away rules, Offer Sheets, and such... he certainly didn't earn more, but with the Arbitration filing it did seem like he thought he did. That said, the two way vs one was situation does clear that up pretty well; his filing probably was to assure his getting a full NHL based contract... Thanks once again.

Good catch. Making a guaranteed $925k sure beats the chance of getting sent down and making only $70-90k in the minors.

I can't imagine what J Cates is expecting from the Flyers. The team already gave him special treatment he didn't really deserve. 15 NHL games is more than any other team would have played him.

Yup. Same deal with Frost who only had a $70K salary in the AHL and $832,500 in the NHL last season. So in total he probably made about $600K.

JVR and Braun? Assuming they are healthy. That’s hopefully a pair of 2nds for JVR and a 2nd for Braun. Lord knows Chuck will end up with two 4ths for both of them lol.

Off to a fast start…
Once opening with a paltry
1-2-2
Or
0-3-2
Or
0-4-1
Or
2-2-1 (fingers crossed)

It will be all down hill the remaining season.
Can Hart steal 25 wins?

The entire team might not get 25 wins. I’m assuming Hart will miss time at some point too.

They really did him no favors. A 32 yr old back up with 4 NHL games under his belt and a defense that’s basically just as bad as it was last year.
