His contract will outlast the current head coach, very likely the current GM, and most likely every roster player that dressed for a game last year.

I'm not sure how you can make that statement unless you're expecting the team to implode next year. There's a good chance at least 2 of Hanifin, Andersson, and Kylington will still be around. They have to lock up Hanifin or Andersson for forever. Even Zadorov could still be here.

I can't see Lindholm going anywhere. I bet Mangiapane is extended again. Dube is probably sticking around if he's not disgraced and kicked out of the league.

If the transition from Markstrom to Wolf/Vladar? goes smoothly, they have a decent shot of being competitive for most of Huberdeau's contract.

He's not paid more than the AAV in any single year, so no.

If we need to clear $5m then we trade him with a sweetener and retain 50%, or he goes on LTIR - those are worst case scenarios if his production drops when he's older (hope for a Mario Lemieux imitation though

We should now lock up Ruzicka for at least 3 years, he should be given an honest opportunity to become #3C this season, and #2C if he amazes. I expect Sutter to give Monahan an fair shot at #2-3C, with competition from Dube, Ruzicka, Rooney - but Ruzicka has decent upside

Not frontloaded at all but almost all in signing bonuses. Makes it buyout proof and lockout proof. Less tax. 71.5 mil of the 84 is in SB.

What I'm tripping on is all these peeps wondering if Flames are going to be able to contend...

I see the Flames A LOT ... this team got better not worse.. Guds is gone.. Weeger is a Stud... Hubu is a Stud...

So they lose some offense .. they got way way better on the backend. And Weeger is going to score a lot with this team..

People saying they wonder if Flames will be a contender are Nuts.

If the D remains the same, they’ll be the class of the Pacific and 1 of the top defensive teams in the league. Sutter Bump!

Well here's the thing. Before we traded Tkachuk & Gaudreau walking, I was hoping we could resign Gaudreau & trade Tkachuk. I felt we could find that RW to play with Lindy & Gaudreau. When Gaudreau screwed us, I cringed because I knew it was going to take big money to keep Tkachuk & he isnt exactly the guy I wanted to build around.
Whatever happens with Weegar now, we still have replaced 8 years of Tkachuk at 9.5 per with Huberdeau at 10.5. 1 measly mill more plus we have an extra 1st round pick & Im really looking forward to what this Schwindt looks like. I would take a 29 year old Huberdeau over the 24 year old Tkachuk all day long. Tkachuk had a career year & why, because the Flames added some monsters to terrorize the other team & Tkachuk didnt have to do that. I dont see the same monsters on Florida. I will be really curious to see Tkachuk keep his focus on the high end offensive game when there will be huge expectation & pressure to go back to that chippy power forward nasty game after game. Gonna be interesting. & yep our top 4 D is looking awesome!!! Just hope Tanev will be ready to go Oct 11th

Gotta get Weeger signed, have Sutter "tweak" Huberdeau's defensive side, and trade our glut of defensemen for a legit 2C..... and let's go for it.

No. Any trade with Vegas would have to be huge overpay on their part. They need to move cap and every team knows it.
I’m good starting the year with this D until we know Weegar’s status, I don’t see the Flames moving any of the top 4 out. Now Treliving gets him extended then I would bet that Hanifin is probably the one that brings back a center.
