Applaud the creativity, but 4 years takes him straight to UFA. There's not much upside here. He's an obvious bridge. |

Nice to see some of that Oline back this week. And a little birdie says Xavier Rhodes could be at Camp on Thursday visiting. |

Like that reaction by the WR. That little double clutch after Hyde flew by like did I drop that. |

This is essentially buying UPL as a 4-year, $2m bridge for the ascedence of Levi. Best case, you're getting elite 1A/1B goaltending from that pair in years 3 and 4 for less than $4m total while you're still paying Skinner and the Thompson contract has kicked in. Worst case, you have a waivable off-injured goalie who isn't making much |

If it takes him to UFA, it's not a bridge. Even your best case scenario is a bad here.
Ullmark signed 2 years for 1.5 total, 1.325, and 2.6. Terrible mismanagement, but his 4 years post-ELC cost a little under 5.5m. An injury prone starter who performed pretty well for them. Why would you rush to give UPL more? If he works out, you need to buy UFA years. |

You think Cozens has more offensive upside than Quinn? As a noted Quinn hater, I disagree there. - sbroads24
Plays the more important position and I think will be the better 200 foot player.

I’m hoping UPL gets 20 starts next year. We need to see what we have with him. |

It's always going to cost more later. Give him a few bucks now and it can be revisited in 4 years when the team's goaltending landscape probably looks totally different. If you bridge him for a year or two now, you're guaranteed to pay later one way or other, with UPL making more in 12-24 months, or different guy making more to back up Levi.
Put another way, you can slow play his RFA years with escalating small deals, but he'll always still have the opportunity to take his QO in the last year and walk after. Might as well get some cost certainty now and buy the whole thing on the cheap |

We're never going to agree on bridge deals. Not going to try to convince you, we all know he will be bridged.
If you want to break the mold, it can't be on a 4 year deal. If you really believe in him, make it 6. Let's be honest though, the real conversation on this subject is Cozens.

He'll get bridged unless he has a monster breakout offensive season this year. Even then I'm giving it 50/50 odds he gets a max deal. Maybe something closer to Matthews length-wise |

He likely will be bridged, but he'll also be around 200 NHL games and a long term deal is a real conversation. |

Stupid, the Islanders don't need him. Lou needs to call it quits. |
