OMG
Reimer is done for the season already?!

Unless McCrimmon can pull a serious rabbit out of something, the Knights are toast.
They must get a goalie is isn't a stiff. They must get a goalie who can carry them 60+ games and dominate.

They don't grow on trees, they cost a lot AAV and .... well, Vegas doesn't have the cap room or the seeming willingness to make that kind of a move.

The Eichel curse continues.

Well, that's the first good news for the Golden Knights this off-season. [1] they remove a flighty and very average goaltender from the mix (Lehner - Vegas will actually be a better team without him) and [2] they get some salary cap relief by putting Lehner on Long Term Injured Reserve. Win win.

Why is Lehner being described as a critical member of the team? He's an overpaid, below-average NHL starter, who is often injured, and frequently an off-ice distraction. Having him on LTIR is a bonus. A great opportunity to see what Logan Thompson can do - FYI he had far better numbers than Lehner playing in front of the same roster. Broissot is turning 30 this season so it's not like he's some awestruck 22-year old. If he's healthy, then they run a tandem of Thompson-Broissot. If they are worried about Broissot's health, then they bring in a cheap vet. The Sharks likely end up trying to sneak Adin Hill through waivers, so that's an option. But seriously - Lehner a valuable player? Haha. Maybe 3 years ago.

Blow Sweeney away with an offer for Ulmark, who I think has a NMC, but hey, thats just an obstacle that can be overcome.

Man, the timing of Vegas' injuries is always so perfect and coincides so well with solving their cap issues...

Yeah I'm sure Vegas intentionally chose to lose their starting goaltender for the season in order to save cap space

This is a no brainer. Varly is an outstanding goalie. Vegas should be willing to overpay a little at this point to save their season. Lou could us the cap space. But see, Lou is a stubborn old 🐴 🕳 who does nothing that makes sense anymore.

Could call the Wings about Ned, but not sure if either side would have any interest.

If they offered enough money I'm sure they could convince Tim Thomas to come out of his doomsday bunker.

Give Bobby Lou a call, the HoF induction might've reinvigorated him to take a min deal and go see all the shows on the Strip and World Series of Poker tournies, if only for the Twitter content ad bumps...

this seems like a massive overreaction by a bored August media and everyone NOT in Vegas. Odds are they do nothing.

This is actually great news for Vegas.

Lehner is old, always hurt, fat, slow, & done.

Thompson is young fast & hungry!

Bored media? Try clueless.

They know Thompson is likely better than Lehner already. If they do the surgery in April after Vegas missed the playoffs, then he comes back late in the season, causing a big cap problem. So let's announce the surgery in August. This way you miss the whole year. You get paid. You get healthy. We get cap relief. We run Thompson-Broissot for the year. Next summer Broissot walks as UFA and you can split with Thompson.

Oh but wait, Lehner is a valuable player!!!

I agree with Cooleus pretty much. Lehner is risking injury every game he plays and has to be slowest goalie in the league side to side. Good glove and big body are his assets. That being said nobody has mentioned checking to see if L. Ullmark is available from the Bruins. He signed in Boston to be the starter and then Swayman came along and is ready to be the number one. There were rumours of Ullmark going to Edmonton last year but how maybe just rumours. I would love to see Linus in Vegas.

Totally agree, Varlamov makes sense for both teams but then you have Lou. Vegas should really go after Ullmark, same cap hit as Lehner and more reliable.

100%. Varly is still in his prime. Definitely needs to go somewhere he can be the guy. The islander is definitely need to recover draft capital and some cap space. It’s too perfect of a match and makes far too much sense. Another reason the old bag won’t do it
