Thanks for this article on the Jets prospects. I'm curios for your thoughts on how many changes will the Jets make to their roster from last season. Will they promote players from the Moose and other minor leagues or will they use some of their free agent signings to fill out the roster? Who will the new roster players be?
Also if the Jets do make changes which players do they part with and how do they do it. Trade, buy out, give away or demotion? Thanks Jacob.

Still very perplexed at Chevy passing on Kemell in favour of McGroaty. It's obviously very early but right now the odds of success are looking very stacked in favour of Kemell.

Lambert was only given a few shifts early in the WJC to show his offensive skills. Since then its been 4th line checking role. At least maybe he will learn a bit more about defence. Looking at the bigger picture here !

Still wondering what Chevy will do with that extra $6.2 M in cap space. I doubt Kadri would have much interest in coming to the Peg and Jets are not paying Kadri level salary for a guy that might be 3rd on depth chart at center. He would be a good fit though if there were a Dubios or Scheifele trade. Think about that for a minute. We get a boatload of picks or prospects for one of them and then simultaneously sign Kadri. Jets would be looking very good after those transactions.

I watched the Scheifele/Orlesky interview. 55 addresses his end of season remark that he wanted to know what direction the team is heading. He didn't back away from wanting to know what direction the team was heading saying that he had some hard questions for managment. The interview goes on to talk about his off-season skates with Perfetti, Morrissey, Lowry, Hellebyck, Connor (and Copp). Says the room is mostly (italics are mine) a great bunch of guys. I found it curious that he mentions basically all of the core leaders on the team but no mention of you-know-who. Overall to me the interview points to the shift away from Wheeler to the new core and I believe that was at the heart of what Sheifele referred to when voicing concern about the direction of the team.

Yes, listened to it as well. Probably not fair of me to mention Scheif in that trade post when he is very likely to be here for at least another two years vs Dubios. If Wheeler doesn't get traded ( Perfetti and his insane playmaking skills could easily be a good replacement at a lot less coin) then I think he should at least give someone else a shot at Captain. My top pick would be JoMo.

I've thought about that too, overpay Kadri and trade Dubois.

Yes its doubtful Kadri would sign with the Jets AND his contract will be ugly in a few years BUT if he did by the time his contract is really bad the Jets are probably in a rebuild anyway or a bunch of cap has come off the books and/or have some kids in the lineup on ELC's offsetting the last few years of Kadri's contract.

If they did so something like that though they'd really need to make other moves to alter the lineup for the better and really go for it cause its an all in move signing a guy to an overpay which you know will be a bad contract in a few years, issue with that is though I'm not sure the other necessary moves are even possible.

Ultimately Kadri probably doesn't sign in Winnipeg even with an overpay so its all moot anyway.

I'm liking what I have seen from Torgesson.

Oh well, wasn't meant to be I guess.

Pretty good offseason for Treliving, they'll likely be in cap hell eventually but he's done pretty well to recover from losing Gaudreau and Tkachuk.

True it does put Calgary in win now mode as both Kadri and Huberdeau are older than Gaudreau and Tkachuk.

Sean Monahan intrigues me. I think with him being on a one year deal and heading into UFA territory he makes for one interesting reclamation project at a reasonable cap hit, especially if Montreal retains salary. I would be interested in bringing him here to see how well he performs.
