Ya.
Overblown isn't the right word.
-They just traded their 2nd best offensive player cause they couldn't afford to keep him.
-they have 13 players signed for next year at a $66m cap hit, leaving $17m or so to sign 8 players.

They can certainly "deal" with it, but it ain't Overblown for God's sake.

you blend right in with the mild coaches, gm, fans, russo... all you do is cry cry cry.

"Just take a look at some of the recent deals where assets were sent to other teams along with draft picks just to free up cap space to sign a player."... ..."just to free up cap space to sign a player", weird the wild cant do that with their dead cap.

The cap constraints could not possibly be over blown! This Wild team is set up for the future...But lets not pretend like all that dead cap space is no big deal????/

I really think the jist of the post is that everyone thinks that the Wild will be terrible this year. Yes, a lot of career years were had last year....and they again did NOTHING come playoff time. Championship teams are not built overnight. Guerin has laid the groundwork to what he envisions as creating a highly competitive team for the next 10 or more years. Yes, Rossi will probably not score 85 pts this coming season. But say someone like an Adam Beckman slots in on that 2nd line with Boldy and Rossi, and Beckman has shown in the past he can score, the Wild will have a good 2nd line to grow with over the next 5-8 years. Beckman is 21, Boldy is 21 and Rossi is 20. Maybe it's Tyson Jost that slots in on the line (I, myself, hope not) and something triggers him to be the scored he was thought to be when drafted.

What Dan is saying is that everyone is calling the Wild the NY Jets of the NHL, and it just isn't true. They now have a large stable of defensemen for the future and to be able to use as trade assets. They are starting to build some depth on offense now as well in young players. And they basically have almost the exact same roster is they did last year, minus Fiala. But the team didn't go as Fiala did, they went as Kaprizov went. Fiala was the beneficiary of most night opposing teams trying to lock down on Kaprizov. Is it all a proven commodity? Of course not, but there is a reason that teams hold onto and develop players. Take Beckman last year, he didn't light the AHL on fire via scoring last year....but he did learn a great deal of how to play defensively when needed last year.

Wild fans are not crying over cap space. It was done to bring a culture change to the Wild. Especially 1 player for sure. But the Wild have a roster today that will be more competitive than a majority of teams in the NHL this season. They are lined up perfectly well to take care of their own home grown stars that they are developing, when the time comes.

Just like the cap cost the Blues Perron. Husso only fetched a 3rd. Hard to believe that the cupboard is so bare you had to give Leddy 4x4 with a 3 year NTC. Tank doesn’t want to be there. Blues have issues of their own.

Beckman just turned 21 and had a 5.4% shooting % which is sure to rise. I’m not worried about Beckman.

Colorado has already lost some players. Calgary looks to be in rebuild mode. Edmonton had a nice run but still doesn't have the goaltending or defense. I see some of these other teams losing players while the Wild outside of Fiala remain mostly intact. I would expect Colorado to be good again however they also lost their starting goaltender. It may addition by subtraction by other teams, but the bottom line is the Wild have lost few players from their team from last year which could help set them up well for this year and beyond.
