Yet have lost like two series to the orioles
- Aaron_85
I feel like we should look to apply the same "just make the playoffs" mentality to the Blue Jays as many said they were going to do with the Leafs.
Make the post season and win a series and go from there - you never know what can happen, I mean the stinkin' Habs made the cup finals a couple years ago for god sakes!

That's where I am at.
I expect playoffs, wont be mad if its 1 game...but the offseason and next TDL? better be spending to get better.

Thereās no one game playoff this year. Best of 3 wildcard series. If their starters are pitching well, Jays line up well in that kind of series.
Also, they tend not to do most of their work at the TDL. The recent exception is Berrios. They prefer to sign FAs and make trades in the off-season when prices are better.

Yup.
But anyone expecting them to unload all their top prospects will be disappointed

i think the Orioles have the best record over the last few months. and the Yankees one of the worst, so i guess that makes sense - senstroll
They closed out a series against Minnesota with a win on July 3, and sort of went on a run - but the thing about the run was that it was fueled by playing well against sub-.500 teams. Since July 4, they are 15-5 against teams below .500 and 10-8 against teams .500 and above. That includes being 4-1 against us - so we are the only reason they have a better than .500 record against teams over .500.
Baltimore has 44 games remaining - 26 are against teams at .500 or above. Let's see if they fall back or continue to play well.
This Blue Jays team lacks consistency and focus. Maybe they can bring it against the Yankees and keep it because they need something to get and keep their attention.

FG is projecting 88 wins for the Jays. thats 25-20 the rest of the way and the Orioles 19-25
I would be disappointed if the Jays only manage 88 wins

It was a combination of elite (vs top notch) goaltending by Price combined with m'eh goaltending from Campbell + some terrible play by others in high pressure situations in my opinion that sunk them vs the Habs.
Last year's lost was (to me) much more palatable despite it still stinging alot at the time. They were right there with Tampa and that series very easily could have gone the other way.
That being said close doesn't get you where you want to be but also it was proven by the Av's that to win the cup you don't need elite or top notch goaltending - you just need everyone else to play well and average goaltending is enough.

If Berrios is back and Springerās bat stays in the lineup, I donāt think they lose a wildcard spot. Stripling is looking good is Kikuchi is in the pen. I think they set up well in a WC series with Manoah, Gausman and Berrios.

That worked for them this year ya.
Not always a proven recipe though.

With the upcoming increase in contracts for several players.
I dont really see them taking on a huge contract extension and its simply not worth trading the farm for 1 year
