I'm glad he didn't sign a PTO with Boston or Toronto. It would've cheapened the whole thing. Absolute wiener but he was exciting to watch. Found myself the saying same thing alot during his run with the Habs. "This (frank)ing guy..."

I enjoyed watching Subban during his MTL years. A third place finish in the 2013 Norris is what he earned. Weber 1st and Suter 2nd. Wish him well.

You are spot on there. They were light years ahead of him at both ends. No clue how he won the Norris, but I will give him his props for what he has done for the community in Montreal. Just wish his on ice persona was about the team and the ultimate goal.

Will remember that standing ovation he got at the Bell Center after the trade to Nashville, almost on par with Koivu's return from cancer.

One of the worst declines I've ever seen from a dman. At least without any catastrophic injuries I'm aware of.

Classic example of a guy who signs a mega-deal and stops putting in the training and effort. Too busy spending money, lining up sponsorships, doing magazine covers, socializing with celebrities. His fitness and training totally plunged. Washed up before age 30. Watch him balloon to 300 pounds now. Still funny that 3 weeks ago the story here was that Subban would sign with a contender and could end up being the best value signing of the summer. Haha.

Sure, let's criticize a guy who has won a Norris Trophy and done a crapload for the community! Anyone want to set an over/under on how many hours of training this poster has accumulated throughout his lifetime? An no, keyboard gymnastics don't count!

I didn't see much of his play in the last few years. It shocks me though that a league minimum contract was not in the works anywhere. 33 is not terribly old, and 3rd pairing minutes would have been good for everyone involved.

But maybe I was still seeing Montreal PK and not whatever he had become lately.

Where did I claim I can play better hockey than Subban? Of course not. Where did I say he wasn't generous to the community?

Just observing what happened. Not long after he started cashing in his $72M contract his play deteriorated. He appeared heavy, slow, and seemed to spend his off-season doing photo shoots and hanging around with celebrities. Pretty sure if he had the same focus and attention to fitness as most other players he'd still be a productive player. I mean compare Subban's dedication to Chara and you can see why one guy played into his 40's and the other was washed up at 33.

I'm actually not even criticizing him. Many people with $72M in the bank would start enjoying life rather than waking up at 5am for workouts.

I think he probably got a better broadcasting deal then what a NHL team was offering. Love him or hate him, he’s pretty good behind a mic and he will be a solid analyst wherever he goes, my guess ESPN.

Subban has had an amazing career.... but does anyone else think he left us wanting more? How great of a career could he had if he played another 4-5 years and played on a competitive team with the same fire he had 6-7 years ago
