The Oilers finally have a goalie, and they are coming off the kind of playoffs that matures a team in a huge way. I have a sense that these Oilers will look extremely dangerous and challenge Colorado…

Wait, people actually watch the games? I'm just here for pool info. I'll put in a game if I have trouble falling asleep. On a pirate site of course, not watching 2 hours of ads.

I think NJ, Ott and Ana will be some of the most exciting young teams to watch.

Edmonton didn't take a chance signing Campbell to his contract with his history of injuries as Leaf starter?

The Leafs will make the playoffs because of their goaltending

The Islanders, who many are writing off, were the best team in this division from February 1 on

NYI were 5th in points% in the metro from February 1 on. So what exactly were they the best at?

I was gonna say the Devils, but now that Ek said we're better than people think, we're assuredly going finish dead last.

Where do you get some of these stats from?

From February 1 to the end of the regular season, NYI went 22-19-4. That's a .533% and good for 18th in the NHL. FOUR other teams in their own division were better. This is the 2nd time you reported NYI being the best. Good stuff.

You also state Vancouver, like NYI, owned the end of the season. Some stats:

Feb 1 to end - 20-11-6 - good for 14th in the NHL. So 14 out of 32 is "owning"?
March 1 to end - 14-7-6 - good for 12th. Owning?

They struggled in the 1st half of the year and improved in the 2nd half. But they didn't own anyone. I'm guessing you're remembering that 6-game winning streak in April where they kept their playoff hopes alive. But did anyone at the time look who they were beating - Vegas (depleted by then), Arizona, San Jose, Vegas again, Arizona again, Dallas (only playoff team). Then they got blitzed by Calgary and Minnesota to end their playoff hopes.

But I'll play along, Vancouver owned the end of the season and is a key team to watch...

The Kings obviously, but mainly to see if Byfield can keep his spot on the roster, rumors are he’s starting in Ontario, again. And to see if Turcotte can finally not be injured and finally can earn a spot on the roster. Both top 5 picks and both haven’t earned full time spots on this team.

I just want to see NHL Hockey. It’s always interesting to see how teams DID or DID NOT improve themselves over the summer.

The teams that do not TALK about how much money they make or are worth.
Greed in all sports is really becoming a turnoff to the rest of society. We really do not care how much money they make or are worth.

looking forward to seeing if the Sabres can take the next step forward and be competitive the entire year instead of just the first month and the last 2 months..

Bold prediction. I tend to agree that they've overrated.

The greater question is...will they be owned by NYI and Vancouver?

It'll be sweet. The last time they won the cup, they took a black and white team photo. Next time they win a cup, you'll be able to know what the players last meal was, as by then there will be 85 trillion megapixel cameras.

The Oilers, because everyone hates them ( not as much the Leafs tho). It doesn’t matter what they do people will poop on them. It’s awesome!

Well it would be nice to see a healthy top 9 forward group perform for Canucks. Not sure if that will ever happen due to injuries.

So maybe a winner like the Canes or Avs playing offensive minded Hockey will have to do.

Oh right because it was so long ago colour TV hadn't been invented, I get it! Oh man that's a good one.

The thing is though even at current resolution standards the human eye can't tell the difference in higher resolution anymore so that won't make a difference.

Looking forward to the Isles having a bounce back season. Looking forward to seeing how Campbell does in Edmonton. Looking forward to the battle between Samsonov and Murray for the net. Looking forward to seeing Detroit take a massive step forward. Looking forward to seeing to where all the Philly players end up traded. Looking forward to seeing where Kane and Toews end up at the TDL.

But really, I'm just looking forward to hockey.

The cup spends most of the season in Toronto, at the HHOF. Part of the deal with the NHL was that the Leafs cannot win the cup.
