Great way to start the year! Nice to see the new additions fit in so well. I must say the way the Preds are handling Tomasino is baffling. Arguably best offensive player team has ever drafted and now back in AHL after a full year with Big Club. Preds determined to keep up their Reputation of not being able to develop offensive talent.

More than likely, Tomasino will be back up sooner rather than later.

He is waiver-exempt and the Preds don't have that luxury with any of the other 23 players kept on the club. Also, getting plenty of time in Milwaukee is better than sitting in the Press Box which is where he would probably be spending time, considering the early-season play of others.

He'll be back up soon and I imagine that all of this has been well-communicated with Philip.

Still slap in the Face to be to left off the Roster behind say Cole Smith. No disrespect to Cole Smith but really…?

Tomasino's upside is greater than what's expected of Cole Smith, no doubt.

However, I've read a couple of opinions that don't paint the situation negatively. OtF had a good write-up today on the issue.

Just a guess, but there may be a valid reason unknown to us. In any case, I think it's a blip that's not for long.

Per Chris Mason tweet. I guess I should see the positives.

Per Tomasino getting sent down:

Pros:

- Top line minutes instead of in/out of lineup w/4th line mins
- Top PP
- Plays all situations
- Gets to work on being a leader at pro level
- rounds out his game

Cons:

- hurts the ego a bit

Conclusion: He’ll be back & better for it 💪

In my view, this is purely a waiver-exempt issue, potential issue with a shortened training camp from the Euro trip, and the reality that the players remaining are playing well (through 2 games and camp).

It's easier to send Tomasino down and let him get some extra playing time, while letting the other players show a bit more of what they can do as opposed to jumping the gun too early and having them subject to being claimed by another team. Granted, I do not see any other teams having a particular interest in the players not sent down instead of Tomasino but the rationale at least is there and can make sense.

I wouldn't read too much into it. But I do agree with the majority of you all in that I want him here to grow and bring his offensive capabilities. Although two different situations, I'd currently prefer Tomasino in the lineup over Tolvanen. They both have a similar issue as did Glass. Their skills are undeniable but their strength on the puck and in the corners remains lacking. We all know that Hynes's system is based on the big guy and at least none of the guys remaining are a liability as was Harpur last season.

It will be great to to see the 20 that suit up on Thursday. I'm excited for this season and look to conversing with you all going forward!
