The pressure to be behave responsibly? To listen to their fans and players? To have at least enough brains to check in with the league before making this move?
Certainly we know they managed to skip right past the pressure of behaving decently and seeing how this might affect the developmentally challenged kid who is traumatized every time Miller gets into the news.
In future you should just use the term canceled. It is way more effective in turning the tables and making the Bruins look like the victims. |

Middle class White men will always be held accountable. That's not a political statement; that's a factual one.
The Bruins acted quick enough. Their role will be forgotten in 2 weeks. |

So here's an odd question:
How exactly can the Bruins simply rip up a contract?
The CBA prohibits this.
At the very least, they would have to put him on unconditional waivers. Have they done this?
Edit: and Miller would have to agree to terminate the contract. |

At least now we have a new entry for the dictionary under: "unforced error".
Does anyone lose their job for this?? Talk about being tone deaf and clueless about how this might impact the team and its fans. "Things are going well? I know: Let's give the trolls something to dig in about!" |

Take this with a grain of salt, im no CBA expert. I believe all contracts have to be vetted by the NHL before they are approved. This one was not approved by the NHL, and therefore the offer can be rescinded. I believe this can be subject to a legal challenge from either the team or the individual. There may yet be one still from Miller's camp. |

Doesn't sound like Bettman didn't approve the contract:
https://www.cnn.com/2022/...-eligible-reaj/index.html
When he was asked about his thoughts on Miller’s signing, Bettman said, “If, in fact, at some point they (Bruins) think they want him to play in the NHL, and I’m not sure that they’re anywhere close to that point, we are going to have to clear him and his eligibility, and it’ll be based on all the information that we get firsthand at the time.”
“They were free to sign him to play somewhere else, that’s another league’s issue, but nobody should think at this point he is or may ever be NHL eligible. And the Bruins understand that now,” the commissioner added. |

Take this with two grains of salt:
I'm not a lawyer, but this seems like a slam-dunk lawsuit.
He signed a contract.
Nothing has changed from when he signed it. No new evidence has come to light. He hasn't done anything in the last two days that would allow the Bruins to say that he has violated the player conduct clause.
He's been upfront about his actions to the NHL and the Bruins on several occasions.
I smell a lawsuit, although maybe he won't sue, as he hopes to eventually get back into the good graces of the NHL. |

He’s been put on unconditional waivers for the purpose of contract termination. Since his contract was registered, the PA could grieve on his behalf |

He would have been better to have 24 lawsuits against him for harassing women like Deshaun Watson, he could have struck it rich! |

Thanks.
Not to be pedantic, but this is quite different from saying they rescinded his contract.
And according to the CBA, Miller will have to agree to the contract termination.
I wonder what his agent will advise him to do.
At the very least, I'm guessing he gets to keep the $95,000 signing bonus. |

We visited Cleveland a few years ago - pit stop on the way to seeing Leafs at Columbus.
My daughter and I went for a walk in downtown Cleveland, which included walking around the Browns' stadium, and going in the gift shop.
I ended up buying her a hat and shirt. She liked the idea of cheering for underdogs (yeah, she's a Leafs fan).
After they traded for Watson, we agreed to throw out the hat and shirt.
She's cheering for the Bills now, so there's a happy ending. |
