Too much positivity in this blog. I think RW had mattstrat write this one.

Probably through this draft. Not a lot of time left to make big changes.

Ron Hextall's son is still listed as being employed by the pens. That cracks me up.

We are turning the tables on him and turning him into a double agent.

"It’s a nice feeling to know you have somebody in charge who gets it. While we may not agree with all the choices that are about to happen with the Penguins roster at the very least we aren’t dealing with the incompetency we’ve seen out of the Pittsburgh front office for numerous years"

Hextall was largely incompetent. The Granlund fiasco was a firing offense that should never have happened. IMHO, Granlund can be moved with about $1.5M retention better match cap hit with value. That says a lot about how failed that move was.

Rutherford seemed to have not plan other than trying a lot of things to see if they worked. For a while it did, then it didn't. The problem with high trade volume is if you don't on average show a surplus from trades, you go broke. You don't have to screw the other guy, but you need to have more value (to you), than you give up. Rutherford seemed to go the other way too often.

With what we know now, did Rutherford go because Morehouse wanted to break up the band? If so, maybe we should worry about the Steelers.

So, Kyle has moved down in the draft before and I think with how stacked this first round is, we should do the same.

Trade firsts with Nashville for their 24th pick and a 3rd, and add grandlund and kulikov in there.

Are they able to take Granlund back this quick? Maybe they see it as a bit of a reclamation and add another asset at the TDL.

I've heard multiple reports, but DK insists it was a simple contract dispute. I hate Morehouse, but I wouldn't have given another 3 years either.

They quickly debunked the Teddy Blueger story so I am more inclined to believe DK on the Morehouse talk.

Any interest in Hanifan in Calgary? Seems like the Flames dont know what they are right now and Hanifan could be traded with one year left on his deal.

If Sullivan had interest in Chychrun I'm sure he'd want Hanafin if available. Price would be super high tho.

hahaha I dont know that Ive been all that positive around here since the back to back cup days. Even said the past few off seasons I thought it was realistic the Pens didn't make the playoffs in the upcoming season. I'm a realist and the reality of the Pens was more positive 5/6 years ago. I know in sports there's always chances of surprises, and upsets, but the people being just straight up pessimists, of which there are a lot, both around here and in real life, have the best chance of being right a lot of times in pro sports. Success and championships are very hard to achieve.

I'm sure Dubas will do a good job in Pittsburgh.
He is a very capable GM who always has a plan.
He will have some tough decisions to make in the next while. will be very interesting to watch.

Definitely not opposed to trading down but I am interested in seeing what is there. If Sandin Pellikka, Perrault, Moore or even Yager are there I'd be interesting in taking one of them. Catching a top 10 talent falling to our pick is better than catching a 10-20th talent at the end of the first round can be a pretty big difference, even in a strong draft.

Just to your note though, Kulikov was a rental.

It was a blog that said nothing just so he could take a shot at a guy who isn't there anymore and he can't let it go. Sounds like a RW blog to me.
