Is that how Melnyk plans to pay the players going forward?

Senators have a mediocre present, an absent future, and a cheapskate owner, and have pissed away a chance at a good prospect on a glory run to 9th place.

Leafs are committed to a rebuild and are investing money in a new analytics department and their scouting department.

Leafs are undoubtably in a better position.

They're in a higher spot in the standings. A better "situation"? Yeah, but no. That roster will never accomplish anything significant. It's just not good enough.

The Senators committed to their re-build when they unloaded a number of veterans (Kelley Fisher and others) for picks, whom they've and have moved a number of them into the current line up.

So with the leafs just starting their re-build, they're at the very least four seasons behind the Senators.

Methinks you put WAY too much stock in a new analytic department, and I can't comment on the scouting department, as I don't know if it's changed or not. If it has not then why would anyone expect it to be any better than it's been for the past decade?

So the Senators are in a better situation than the leaf are, by miles and miles.

If the Senators are into their rebuild, then their rebuild is garbage, and that puts them behind the Leafs, by as many years as it takes them to realize their roster sucks and is going nowhere.

and when those young players mature and become actual frontline nhl players and are due to get paid, the cheapskate owner will ship them off for a new set of draft picks and the cycle will continue

Of course you do, math and science are the devil.

and congrats on moving out your third liners without getting anything of value back. Clearly a good way to start and finish a re-build.

Face it, the leafs are going to be a crap garbage team for about another four years before they even could consider making the playoffs again.

All your recent posts just show how jealous you are, with Ottawa's recent success on the ice.

For the past three or four seasons you've been telling us all what a great player Kessel is, how they've finally found a starter in Reimer and then it was how Berneir was brought in and the leafs finally had the starter they needed . . blah blah blah blah.

They leafs are basement garbage team, now they're goi9ng to do the re-build model that the Senators have been doing for the few seasons.

Ottawa is miles and miles ahead of the leafs in all aspects of the game, drafting, development, coaching, players, prospects, management, scouting and results on the ice.

But keep up with your baseless posts, as you can't point to one thing that the leafs do better than the Senators.

The leafs have a 90.5% chance of not winning the lottery, and they're never going to make up the 10 points between them and the Coyotes, so why not break the more than an entire year streak of not being able to win a game outside of the the Eastern Time Zone?

They've got nothing to gain from losing again.

BTW, are you going to wait until the Draft Lottery to get a McDavid tattoo beside the Nylander one?
