I know I might be out of line posting here as I'm a leafs fan, but I'm a fan of hockey first, so just hear me out.
I think its clear that LA will have a crowded net in the upcoming season, but they haven't realized it yet.
Jonathan Quick has been pretty solid in net for you guys, he played 72 games last season, and has a cheap contract the next 3 seasons ($1.7 mil per season).
Where does Jonathan Bernier fit into the plans? he played 58 games for Manchester this season, 30-21-6, 2.03 GAA, 0.936 save pct., it would be a waste of a year to send him back to the AHL, he was 3-0-0 in 3 NHL starts last season, 1 shutout, 1.30 GAA, 0.957 save %.
I think Quick should be traded as Bernier will be better in the long run, but I doubt he will be. And there's no way Bernier plays 10 games next season. |
