tell me more about this? i didnt think it was an adaptation
- Crimsoninja

It is not but I read an article about what the writer read before writing the entire series. I think what I remember is the yellow king was a short story based on the short stories that inspired cthulu. But I may be mixing those two up.

Anyway he read a bunch of obscure noire novels and novellas with nihilistic themes and characters but he also read these yellow king short stories that are often referred to because of the mythical city of carcosa which I think houses the devil cthulu.

Its (frank)ed and I need to learn more about it

no that's fair. if netflix had everything else it would fine, right?
why deprive yourself because movie/tv studios can't make deals with netflix to bring their content.

f that. netflix is great but it's missing almost all the good content.

yes hp lovecraft

http://blogs.wsj.com/spea...ecrets-of-true-detective/
thats what i read

and straight from the king in yellow wiki page (also its called the king in yellow not the yellow king)

H.P. Lovecraft read The King in Yellow in early 1927[12] and included passing references to various things and places from the book—such as the Lake of Hali and the Yellow Sign—in "The Whisperer in Darkness" (1931),[13] one of his seminal Cthulhu Mythos stories. Lovecraft borrowed Chambers's method of only vaguely referring to supernatural events, entities, and places, thereby allowing his readers to imagine the horror for themselves. The imaginary play The King in Yellow effectively became another piece of occult literature in the Cthulhu Mythos alongside the Necronomicon and others.
