The Little Stranger 6-7/10 (probably higher on the smug fox scale)

I feel like I've seen almost everything Domhall Gleason and Eyebrows Guy have been in and its been entirely accidental.

Movie lost points off the hop for being a comcast production because Philly sucks

Otherwise it was fine. Darker and more graphic than I expected. I wouldn't use the word visceral though. I read the book and I figured things in my head were less... bloody and stuff than portrayed.

Period pieces are fun but something about the movie felt too modern at times. Like it was too clean.

Its super slow and good at making you feel kinda anxious and uneasy as you wait for a thing to happen. I don't know if I'd really call it tense. It establishes an atmosphere and holds that the whole movie.

LOVE the cinematrography. The house really felt like its own character. Massive and overwhelming and as if the characters were drowning inside of it.

It isn't a happy movie but things kinda come around well enough. Its kind of a mystery/"horror" cross. I don't want to spoil anything really because of the mystery aspect of it. The ending might leave you kind of empty though but I figure that's intentional due to the gothic nature of it all.
