7.4 Million Reasons Dougie Hamilton Will NOT Be Traded Before July (nhl News)

Let me preface this by saying I sure hope I'm wrong.

However, this Dougie Hamilton contract that we all loved for about two seasons, keeps getting worse. Not like it has changed at any point, but it keeps finding different ways to slap the Devils in the face. First was the No Trade Clause that blocked a virtually uncontested trade for Quinn Hughes and made things far more difficult in the re-signing of Luke Hughes this summer. Now it's something else.

On July first of this year there is a 7.4 million dollar bonus to be paid out to Hamilton. Teams that are interested in Hamilton would really have to convince ownership that this is the piece that will put them over the top THIS SEASON, or else why not just wait, make the Devils pay the $7.4 and slot him in next season?

With the way Hamilton has played the last few years, it would be much easier to sell a ketchup popsicle to a woman wearing white gloves. As I've been saying for a while, it's more likely Arizona PD finds Nancy Guthrie than Tom Fitzgerald finding a taker for Hamilton prior to July 1.

Cheers to me looking stupid(er) by 3pm today...
