A couple of quick hits for you today.

A few days ago, I wrote about the Edmonton Oilers and Cam Talbot, but it appears now that Todd McClellan has taken over as coach. Talbot is not going anywhere at… least for the time being… Talbott and McClellan have had great success in two places working together: Edmonton and LA.

But that hasn’t stopped the Oilers from looking around and Carolina from doing some digging on Anaheim Ducks Goalie John Gibson…. And then there is the longest rumor in NHL history that the Pittsburgh Penguins would like to bring hometown goalie John Gibson back as well. Pittsburgh is playing better as of late, and if they can make it into the playoffs and get good goaltending, they could be dangerous.

Kane to Sabres (e3)

Meanwhile, all the rumors about Buffalo and Detroit talking to each other and possibly working on a major trade are out there. And speaking of homecomings…. How about Patrick Kane to Buffalo? This rumor has been out there for a little while, but I really can’t think of a better time than now to make that deal. I think bringing in Kane would greatly increase the energy around this team, which is what needs to happen right now.
