The Columbus Blue Jackets have added another prospect to the system.
This time it's Ohio kid Kole Sherwood who has put pen to paper on a three-year entry-level contract with the team.
The 18-year-old forward was not chosen at the 2015 NHL Entry Draft but attended Blue Jackets camp and obviously made quite an impression.
As a result he will leave development camp with a contract in his back pocket.
Sherwood is coming off an impressive season with the Ohio AAA Blue Jackets U-18 team where he scored 22 goals and tallied 48 points in 31 games. His 22 goals led the league and his 48 points were good for second in the Tier 1 Elite Hockey league.
Sherwood will play in the OHL next season with a stacked London Knights team that features high-end 2016 draft eligibles Max Jones, Matthew Tkachuk and Victor Mete.
Coyotes prospect Christian Dvorak and Maple Leafs prospect Mitch Marner headline the expected returnees.
Sherwood will have plenty of time to showcase himself over a 68 game regular season - and quite possibly a long playoff run - and he should put up his fair share of points with such a talented group of players around him.
