So, after saying that he wouldn't rush to make a decision, Pierre Dorion didn't waste much time in bringing back head coach Guy Boucher, and his entire staff.

In the Monday meeting, Boucher did enough to outline a plan to get the Senators back to respectability, including another shifting of roles among him and his assistants.

Boucher will take over the power play himself, making it the third voice that the PP units have had in a calendar year. Boucher was hired with the expectation that the Senators power play would improve, but it sunk to new depths this past season.

Marc Crawford will run the defense, but won't be responsible for any special teams. Martin Raymond, the third coach on the bench, will run the penalty kill but during games he will be the eye in the sky and Rob Cookson will go from the press box to the bench to work with players during the games.

Goaltending coach Pierre Groulx will also return and may have the toughest job of the bunch to get Craig Anderson and Mike Condon back into a legitimate NHL duo, which they were not this past season.

Boucher hasn't survived a third season in any pro stop in his career, getting fired in both Tampa and Bern, Switzerland.

He will enter this season in a lame duck situation, with no safety net as he will be in the final year of his contract and there will have to be some significant results if he wants an extension.

With that decision made, Dorion now has to put a decent enough team together to allow Boucher that opportunity. Another season with the likes of Alex Burrows on one of the power play units and Boucher is being set up to fail.
