10 days ago Yahoo sports did a piece reporting that Axel Sandin-Pellikka will be heading to the US after his season. One that went well under the radar for me a month ago was
From the Hockey News stating that ASP’s club are looking for a replacement for the high scoring extremely mobile blue liner.
Even further back was a noted that ASP will definitely be here. Unfortunately the few people I talk to that would know either don’t know exactly when or haven’t gotten back to me yet. As H2 put out the tweet, Brandsegg-Nygaard is headed this way. His freshman campaign wasn’t earth shattering but the organization is keen to get him in the fold. On the other hand, Sandin-Pellikka is on the radar of almost everyone. His arrival is one of what I consider the two most important prospects. Trey Augustine being the second as he will have to opt to end his collegiate run to sign his ELC.
Still excited to see what happens with Buchelnikov, but recently found out that NHL clubs had much more limited contact with the KHL over the past couple of years. That appears to have been a top down directive and with Buchelnikov having one more year with his club that would lead to free agency that is a bit of a concern. This season’s remaining highlights may well be, “will he or won’t he” in terms of prospects getting on AHL or NHL ice.
