What's the Plan?

Though most fans don't ever want to think about this, it's slow right now in the Blackhawks news cycle so let's ask some questions that really don't need to be answered as it's moot at this point in time.

What if Kyle Davidson wasn't the general manager of the Blackhawks leading the franchise through a much-needed rebuild but Stan Bowman was still at the helm instead?

* Would Bowman have traded Brandon Hagel, Alex DeBrincat, and Kirby Dach?

* Would he have re-signed Marc-Andre Fleury to a contract renewal to keep him in Chicago for at least another season?

* Would he have made trades to try recouping a 2022 1st round pick that he lost when trading for Seth Jones a year ago?

* Would he have drafted the same or similar players as the ones who comprise the 2022 draft class minus 1st rounders Kevin Korchinski, Frank Nazar, and Sam Rinzel?

* Would he have kept Dylan Strome and Dominik Kubalik in the fold and paid them each $4M AAV or more?

* Would he have pursued bigger names in free agency instead of Max Domi, Andreas Athanasiou, Colin Blackwell, and Dylan Sikura?

* Would he have given more tether to Brett Connolly and Henrik Borgstrom and not bought them out?

* Would he have recalled Lukas Reichel up a lot earlier last season and kept him up the rest of the way rather than return him to the AHL?

The collective answer to these questions is that the Blackhawks would have been crowned the 2023 Stanley Cup champions next June.

Not.
