1) Matvei Michkov has NOT yet signed an entry-level contract with the Flyers. However, this will take place soon. It's been confirmed that Michkov was able to obtain a release from the remaining to two seasons of his KHL contract with SKA St. Petersburg to come to the NHL for the 2024-25 season. The 19-year-old's release is being categorized as being for "humanitarian reasons" because Michkov's father passed away last spring in Sochi and the death has been understandably difficult on the whole family.

Only when the reported NHL contract is signed, sealed and delivered will it be formally announced by the Flyers. This is standard practice leaguewide, which is why the team announcement usually comes after it's been widely reported elsewhere. Michhov's rights are Flyers property but he's not officially a Flyer until the contract has been registered with and approved by the NHL. Again, this is fully expected to happen in systematic order now that SKA has permitted Michkov to forego the final two years of his contract (St. Petersburg will retain his KHL rights).

2) On the Mondays with Meltzer edition of Flyers Daily, Jason Myrtetus and I discuss Michkov in the opening segment of the program. We discuss Michkov himself and the trickle-down effect on the club both for the upcoming season and beyond. This week's episode runs roughly 38 minutes.

3) Today was the annual Flyers Alumni Golf Invitational: the biggest fundraising event on the yearly calendar. More 60 Alumni attended and played this year, with participants coming from all across North America. No one traveled from Europe this year but early 2000s Alum Dennis Seidenberg hails, of course, from Germany. Prior to teeing off, the Alumni presented a brand new fully customized adaptive bike to a local special needs youngster as part of the Flyers Alumni's Every Child Deserve a Bike campaign. Last night, more than 50 Alumni got together for an Alumni-only dinner event at the Wells Fargo Center. Check out the Flyers Alumni's Facebook and Twitter pages for photos and video.
