4-3 Flyers lose again

What a disappointing finish for the Flyers and their fans after such a well-played game, perhaps their best game of the season.

Afterwards, everyone was saying how it was such a good effort.

However, Forsberg was complaining about the refs, especially for being called for a dive.

No bad team should ever complain about officiating, but, with that said, Forsberg had a point this time.

Here's some stuff from the post-game locker room....

“I don’t think it was a dive,” said Forsberg. “(Colin White) was totally slew-footing me. If the referee is trying to embarrass me… I mean, we played half the game (shorthanded). After we scored early in the third period they called another penalty and another and another. It was tough. It was definitely uphill. I don’t think (the referees) liked us. Back to my penalty, it definitely wasn’t a dive, you can see it on the replay.”

Forsberg said getting called for diving is embarrassing for him.

“Totally,” he said. “If the referee can’t see the play if he’s right behind me on the goal line, I think you better be pretty sure if your calling a dive on a player - you have to be really, really sure that’s a dive if you’re going to call one and he can’t see from that angle if it’s a dive or not, I can tell you that.”

Forsberg said he tried to get an explanation for the call from Greg Kimmerly, who sent him to the sin bin, but was shrugged aside.

“It frustrated me. Then you try to talk to him and he tells you to get out of there. Then he calls another one on us right away.”

Don't be surprised if a fine is coming Foppa's way.

Other stuff....

“We put ourselves in a position to win a hockey game,” said coach John Stevens. “In terms of a team effort, battling to the end, I think this was an effort that we can be proud of.”

“We played a really good game despite losing,” said Derian Hatcher. “Sometimes stuff like this happens when you go through something like (we have). If we were on a winning streak, we probably would have won 3-2. We’re not a team with a ton of confidence and with that comes bad thoughts.”

The Flyers have dropped seven straight at Continental Airlines Arena dating back to March, 2004.

Since 1991, the Flyers are 8-30-5 at the Swamp.

Officially, according to the league, Niittymaki's losing streak is over at 13 games (despite losing 15 straight starts) as is the Flyers seven game losing streak (despite dropping eight in a row.)

That's all from me. I'm taking an All-Star break. See you at the end of the week.
