The Rangers open their rookie training camp this week. Several of the names below should be familiar but New York will have three of their 2024 picks on camp. Interestingly to a certain extent, EJ Emery, their first round pick, will be not be at the rookie camp.

Here is the schedule:
Wednesday, September 11 - Practice (12:30 PM) - MSG Training Center
Thursday, September 12 - Practice (10:30 AM) - MSG Training Center
Friday, September 13 - Rookie Game @ Flyers (7:00 PM) - PPL Center in Allentown, PA
Saturday, September 14 - Rookie Game @ Flyers (5:00 PM) - PPL Center in Allentown, PA
Sunday, September 15 - No Practice
Monday, September 16 - No Practice
Tuesday, September 17 - Practice (11:00 AM) - MSG Training Center

A few players will have my focus this week. The reason for that is two-fold: first, to see how they developed from last year. Second, to get an early sense as to how possibly could be a factor at some point during the season. Plus to see if the individual has possibly risen in the prospect rankings from a year ago.

Up front, that list is:
- Brett Berard, Ryder Korczak and Adam Sykora, largely because they could be bottom-six options at some point this year.
- Jaroslav Chmelar, to determine the growth made in college and how he compares to some of his Hartford teammates after playing a handful of games there following the signing of his ELC this part March.
- Adam Edstrom and Dylan Roobroeck, each of whom might be fourth line factors with Matt Rempe in the future and to see how well they skate.
- Bryce McConnell Barker - to gauge his development over the past season
- Brennan Othmann - as he should dominate this setting. If not, I might be a bit concerned.

On defense, Victor Mancini will have my focus. The strides he made last season might make him next in line a blueliner is needed. In my opinion, he has surpassed Matthew Robertson in the D pecking order.

In net, Dylan Garand, as he is expected to see most of the action in Hartford in net. That could make him next in line if a back up is needed for some reason.
