Patrick Dwyer has been hired as an assistant coach for the Carolina Hurricanes' AHL affiliate, the Charlotte Checkers.
The right winger spent his entire NHL career with the Hurricanes, playing 416 games across seven seasons. He had 42 goals and 93 points in that time. Dwyer also played a year with the Checkers in 2016-17, before spending the last two years playing in Europe. This will be the first coaching job that Dwyer has held in professional hockey.
