KHL has headed into the off-season, has already begun preparations for the upcoming season and with free agency soon approaching - some of the KHL stars are looking for permanent homes across the pond.
On Tuesday the Toronto Maple Leafs announced the signing of Alexander Barabanov - one of the most sought after KHL free agents. In order to do that - his KHL team had to release the player from his contract prior to April 30th, otherwise the team couldn't have made it official due to memorandum of understanding between both NHL and KHL.
Meanwhile the Florida Panthers are gearing up to get one of their Russian prospects - a souce has told Hockeybuzz that 19-year-old Grigorei Denisenko has signed his three-year entry level deal with Florida Panthers and that his agent has informed his KHL team that player will not return to Lokomotiv team and attempt to make the jump over to North America.
The deal is yet to be officially confirmed/announced by the Panthers and we could have to wait for that until May 1st when Denisenko would officially have his KHL contract end.
Meanwhile Darren Dreger reports that the Ottawa Senators are front-runners for Artyom Zub and that goalie Alexei Melnichuk has narrowed his list of potential suitors down to four teams.
