On Tuesday KHL announced that their annual KHL Closing Ceremony - KHL Awards night is cancelled due to Covid-19 pandemic.

So this year, no fancy suits, dresses and a ceremony but that doesn't mean that the awards will be forgotten. Per KHL, league still plans to award their best players, coaches and journalists. The prize winners will be selected by Board of Directors.

Statement from Alexei Morozov, KHL President:

Unfortunately, at the moment the situation with this pandemic dictates the conditions for everyone. It seems to me that even if the restrictions on holding events is lifted before the end of May, it is not sensible for us to ask people to put their health at risk by attending the Closing Ceremony. In previous years, we welcomed about 1,000 guests to the ceremony. Moreover, it would be hard to stage this ceremony in the form we are used to enjoying because we have been unable to complete this year’s championship.

Nevertheless, even this curtailed season has its worthy winners. We will announce them, and the prizes will either be sent to the clubs or presented at the opening games of the next season.
