This article will be another in my series of player profiles, where I’ll look at each player on the Anaheim Ducks and assess how their season went. This piece will focus on Adam Henrique.
This was a really strong season for Henrique, who led the Ducks in both goals and points. He had 26 goals and 43 points in 71 games, a pace of 30 goals and 50 points per 82 games. He also managed those stats while averaging under 17 minutes per game, only the fourth-most minutes per game of any forward on the team.
His quality of competition was only average when compared to other Ducks’ skaters (according to Hockey Abstract) but he took advantage, posting a corsi for percentage of 52 per cent, which was one of the highest amongst the team’s skaters and also quite a bit higher than Anaheim’s overall corsi for percentage of 48 per cent. He was also one of only three players still with the Ducks to play at least 10 games with the team and have a positive goals for percentage (according to NaturalStatTrick.com).
Henrique is a player that we should all be watching very closely going forward. With Anaheim’s depth down the middle only getting stronger and the expansion draft coming, he may not be with the Ducks past next season. Henrique will be 31 years old at the time of the draft and it may be a better move to save a spot for a younger forward instead. There’s also a strong chance that Anaheim could look to deal him to avoid losing him for nothing.
Regardless, Henrique will continue to be one of Anaheim’s top forwards and for a team in serious need of goals, he’ll be a key player for the team next season.
