Anders Lee - LW
Jordan Eberle - RW
Casey Cizikas - C
DEFENSE
Ryan Pulock - RD
Adam Pelech - LD

GOALIE
Semyon Varlamov
For the New York Islanders, I'm going with a 7-3-1 although this isn't necessarily the easiest at the moment given what they will have to expose. That being said I'm going to try to spin this into a positive as a scenario where the Isles will get to shed some salary as that is proving to be a killer for them this off season since they are in desperate need of a scorer and essentially no space to add one
Goalie - ? .. Sorokin is exempt and given the rules for expansion, Varlamov is the only one rostered that meets the criteria so he would have to be exposed. His contract is substantial too but assume who ever else they sign will be protected.
Notable Players Exposed
Josh Bailey - A lifelong Islander. I would love to keep him but this becomes a numbers game and essentially a toss up between him and Eberle on who to expose. Although Eberle is slightly more expensive, he has a higher scoring upside which the Isles need right now
Kieffer Bellows/Otto Koviula- Youngsters that you would ideally like to keep and give time to develop but with the way the team is structured it just doesn't make sense.
Michael Dal Colle/Josh Ho Sang- Ironic that both 1st round picks of their 2014 draft class are here but performance speaks for itself
Johnny Boychuk - Great team guy but older player on the decline and making a lot of money
Scott Mayfield - This one stings to do. Almost protected him over Leddy but Leddy's skating ability and use on the PP gave him the edge here.
---
Editors Note: As was said above, Varlamov is the only goalie currently signed by the organization that will meet exposure requirements but the team also needs to protect a goalie. Keep an eye on that in the future.
Thanks for the list!
With your take on the exposed players I am going to jump right into the pick.
SEATTLE SELECTS.....
Josh Bailey
The 31 year old Bailey has been an effective top six player on the Island for almost a decade and still remains a strong production player. One very impressive part of Bailey's game is the fact that he has missed very little time over his career which bodes well for an older veteran player. Bailey typically plays on the right side but as a left shot he provides more versatility for the lineup.
