*update - Detroit acquired Alex Nedeljkovic from Seattle, sending a 3rd round pick and Bernier’s rights over to Carolina. Very exciting to see a younger goalie coming into the fold. New contract is reportedly 2 yrs @ 3million per.
Seattle has selected Dennis Cholowski. It’s an unceremonious end to the tenure of a highly touted defenseman, at the time he was drafted. Hronek, selected in the second round, quickly made his way past DC in the team ranks. Hopefully Seattle provides an opportunity for Cholowski to find his game.
I was certain Stecher was going to be selected. In my opinion, Stecher is much more ready to jump into the lineup and be an impact player. Regardless, it’s certainly seems that Detroit held on to the better player for this, the final year of his current deal.
Today’s post is going to be “open”. All side deals from Seattle are going to be announced, so I’m going to continue to update.
Rasmussen definitely earned his extension last year. This is a dollar friendly deal for a player who worked hard to carve out his place. There’s upside on Rasmussen still, but as a 3rd line center, 2nd power play net front I think this is a good signing for Detroit.
