Kraken Ignore Me Vs Colorado - Listen Against Caps

I had a simple request for the Seattle Kraken going up against the Avalanche; don't allow more than 4 goals. They instead chose to allow 7 goals in a 7-3 loss which saw Driedger allow 4 goals on 13 shots and then Grubauer allowing 3 goals on 17 shots. Natural Stat Trick had the high danger chances 8-6 in favor of the Avalanche yet the score went heavily in Colorado's favor. This time there was no question on who the blame should fall on, both Dreidger and Grubauer simply were not good enough. To make matters worse, Seattle was only able to make a push when the Avs were able to sit back with a 7-0 lead into the third period.

Jordan Eberle scored to keep his point streak going. That streak ended in the Kraken's victory against the Caps but prior to that Ebs put up 10 points (7-3-10) in 10 games. Tanev also scored his first goal since October 28th and Colin Blackwell scored his first as a Kraken on a play where Kuemper got caught sleeping because his team had a massive lead and really what was the point. That's about the only good things I have to say about that game so instead let's talk about the Kraken's victory against the Capitals.

It's amazing. Apparently by not allowing 4+ goals, the Kraken were able to win a game, breaking their six game losing streak. Not only were Seattle able to win but they did so in fairly convincing fashion. While the Capitals outshot Seattle, most of these shots were kept to the outside and not too much of a threat for Grubauer. What was most impressive for me in this game were special teams. Washington had four powerplays compared to one for Seattle (in my opinion Seattle should have had at least two more powerplays). The Kraken killed off all four of the Capitals penalties while scoring on their own powerplay on a nifty (lucky) backhand shot by Jared McCann.

Jarnkrok has been my whipping boy all season so credit where credit is due because he had his best game yet. Jarnkrok won 5 of 7 draws and put up his first two points of the season; his first goal and a secondary assist on the Larsson goal. I still need to point out Jarnkrok scored on his one and only shot of the game. He wins draws and is defensively sound but I want to see him doing way more to warrant more time in the top six.

Not to bring the mood down but the Capitals did play a game the night before but Seattle finally showed some consistency in all facets of the game. I've said since Day 1; Seattle might not be the better team in most games they play but they should never be outworked. Last night the Kraken outworked the Capitals and the result was a win.

Goaltending is still a massive question mark as to what they will get on any given night but if Seattle plays every game like they did against the Caps than they will at least be competitive in most games, even if the results are less than impressive.

The Kraken face off against the Hurricanes, Lightning, and Panthers in their next three games. Even without Barkov, Florida is still a dominant offensive team. The Capitals who Seattle just played and these three teams are all top 10 in the league in goal scoring, with Florida and Carolina #1 and #2 respectively. Winning one of these three games should be considered a win right now. What would be more impressive would be holding their opponent to two or less goals in every game, even if it means they lose a 2-1 game.

Just stop allowing 6 or 7 goals against a game...
