The Los Angeles Kings are now on a four-game winning streak, following a 3-1 win over the Seattle Kraken last night.

Adrian Kempe opened the scoring for the Kings about four minutes into the game, as he got to a rebound in front and kicked it up to his stick, putting the puck into the open net. It ended up being a pretty slow first period after that with the teams combining for just 10 shots total, but the Kings did manage to get the better chances and took a 1-0 lead into the intermission.

Los Angeles extended their lead in the second period, as Phillip Danault managed to tap in a rebound after the puck bounced around in front. However, despite Cal Petersen making some great saves on a breakaway and follow-up, Marcus Johansson got Seattle on the board on a power play a bit later, knocking in a rebound. The Kraken looked like they had tied the game before the end of the frame off a wicked shot from Ryan Donato, but it was determined the puck never went in, bouncing off the crossbar. Despite outshooting the Kraken 13-7 in the frame, Los Angeles did give up some great chances and Cal Petersen had to be good to maintain the Kings’ lead.

Like the opening frame, the third period was very slow, with the teams once again combining for just 10 shots. However, this favoured the Kings as they did an excellent job limiting quality chances for the Kraken and protecting their lead. Then with under a minute to go, Phillip Danault secured a 3-1 win for the Kings, burying an empty net goal.

This was another strong performance for the Kings, who have been on fire lately. There was a good commitment to defense and aside from some strong second period chances for Seattle, Los Angeles did a great job limiting opportunities.

Viktor Arvidsson, Phillip Danault and Trevor Moore continue to be great for the Kings, having emerged as a key source of offense through the stretch. Despite the Kings’ strong defensive effort, Cal Petersen also deserves credit for making some important saves.

The Kings are now on a four-game winning streak and have won six of their last seven games. They’ve risen to second in the Pacific Division in points percentage and the team’s next game will come tomorrow against the San Jose Sharks.
