The San Jose Sharks dropped all three of their games against Western Canada opponents this week and are now riding a four-game losing streak. The Sharks fell 2-1 in overtime to the Edmonton Oilers on Tuesday, then lost 4-2 in games on both Thursday against the Calgary Flames and Saturday against the Vancouver Canucks.

The losses come after the Sharks dropped all three of their games last week to the Arizona Coyotes, Colorado Avalanche and Dallas Stars.

This week though, it’s a set of three losses where San Jose probably deserved a better fate than going 0-for-3. They outshot the Oilers by a solid margin and had a lead through much of the game, then had two competitive outings against the Flames and Canucks.

San Jose also generated more offense, averaging 34 shots per game over the stretch. It’s a big improvement, given the team ranks 27th in the NHL in shots per game. However, they majorly struggled to bury any of their chances, scoring just five goals over the three games. The Sharks lack both scoring at the top of their lineup and quality depth within their forward group, making for a pretty rough time creating offense against strong competition.

James Reimer also left the game against Calgary with an injury but it doesn’t seem to be serious. It's great that Reimer is alright, though at this point in the year, getting Kaapo Kahkonen into more action wouldn’t have made much of a difference for the season.

The Sharks are down to 13th in the Western Conference and for anyone tracking what that means for draft lottery purposes, San Jose has the 10th worst points percentage in the league. The Sharks have 11 games remaining, with seven of them coming on the road, the next of which will take place on Tuesday against the Nashville Predators.
