The San Jose Sharks announced today that they’ve signed forward Mitchell Russell to an entry-level contract.

Russell is 21 years old and wasn't drafted but is coming off an impressive season with the OHL’s Brampton Battalion. He scored 41 goals and 88 points in 64 games as an overager and played on the team with Sharks’ 2020 fourth-round pick Brandon Coe.

We can expect to see Russell with the AHL’s San Jose Barracuda next season, which should provide a better indication of what he can do against a higher quality of competition.

The terms of the deal have not been released.
