Could CBJ be open to dealing Laine or Gaudreau?

Patrick Laine was a healthy scratch tonight. Johnny Gaudreau has been “benched” at times during the season. Is this just a new coach letting players know they need to step up or do one or both of these players need a change in scenery?

Over the summer a few of you wanted to try and get Laine. Right now, the concern is much more about defense and goaltending and that’s not really where this player is supposed to “shine”. Johnny G. Is more of a hesitation because we already see Debrincat get run at night after night. To his credit he doesn’t shy away, but of these two Laine is a little more intriguing.

Reality time, CBJ wouldn’t want to deal anyone who could just be going through a bad funk. Along with that Laine was fairly vocal when he didn’t get the linemates he wanted in Winnipeg. There are a lot of reasons this couldn’t work. However, some of you were very interested in this player just a few months ago.

The cost would probably be a bit higher to go to an on again off again rival. If it all aligned, what (if anything) would you give up to get either Patrick or Johnny into a Winged Wheel? Where do you place them? Are there warning flags at this point or has CBJ started going in a different direction than what these players are hoping for? Let me know, and let the deal making commence.
