Shooting Stars: Panthers vs Stars

Big ol’ tilt on the schedule tonight when the Cats take on the Central Division-leading Dallas Stars tonight.

Both Florida and Dallas bulked up with some hel/depth at this year’s TDL. The Panthers adding Tarasenko, Okposo, and Bjornfot, while Dallas landed the highly sought-after Chris Tanev.

We’ll get to see Okposo in his Panthers debut tonight, but the addition of Tarasenko has already been paying off. In just his second game, the veteran winger had four points, including two nice goals. Someone mentioned it in the comments of the last blog, but it looks like Tarasenko is generally happy to be in Florida and is playing like it.

Both of these teams tonight are fine-tooled machines ready for the postseason, and that’s reflected in their records.

Panthers: 44-17-4
Stars: 40-17-9

Florida is #1 in the league, with the Stars sitting at #4.

I said it before, but I’ll say it again…did you ever think as a Panthers fan that they would be in this position/being talked about like they are?

I’m expecting a playoff (Cup) atmosphere and pace tonight. As Litter Box Cats point out:

The Stars are coming into tonight’s tilt, which opens a five-game homestand, enjoying a hot spell, having won a season-high five-straight games to maintain its hold on the top spot in the Central Division. Radek Faksa and Jason Robertson scored 18 seconds apart in the second period to spark Dallas to a 4-1 victory over the Los Angeles Kings on Saturday, as the Stars completed a three-game swing through California with a perfect record. The aforementioned Robertson leads the club in assists (43) and points (65).”

With Rodrigues and Ekblad out, here’s what tonight’s lines/pairings are looking like:
