The Rangers are at Amalie Arena to face the Lightning. New York is in the midst of six games in nine days and begin a stretch of three in four tonight in Tampa. After tonight’s game, the Blueshirts are in Pittsburgh on Saturday afternoon and home Sunday to take on the Islanders.

Rangers lineup vs. Lightning:
Kreider-Zibanejad-Roslovic
Panarin-Trocheck-Lafrenière
Cuylle-Wennberg-Kakko
Vesey-Goodrow-Brodzinski

Lindgren-Fox
Miller-Schneider
Jones-Gustafsson

Shesterkin
Quick

Scratches: Trouba (lower-body injury), Rempe (suspended), Brodzinski, Ruhwedel
LTIR: Chytil, Wheeler

Tampa sits in fourth place in the Atlantic and in the first Wild Card spot. The Lightning have 74 points with 17 games remaining while the Islanders sit at 72 points with 18 games left. Detroit looms right behind both, also with 72 points, but with 17 games to go. Washington is hovering nearby with 69 points.

New York is six points north of Carolina with 17 games remaining for each. Boston is one point ahead of birth teams but have played two more contests. Florida leads the Eastern Conference with 94 points and 66 games played. The Panthers right now are the favorite to come out of the conference but there are a long way to go.

The D once again with be a key. Tampa’s offense has top shelf talent, maybe not throughout the entire lineup, but certainly in the top two lines. Add on Victor Hedman and Andrei Vasilevskiy, who will be in net tonight, between the pipes, the Lightning are still a tough opponent to face.

For the Rangers, it’s keeping the best. Make sure the new lines continue to build on the success and growth they have shown the past few games. The new defensive pairs have looked good and should remain together - barring injury - for the next 10-14 days until Jacob Trouba returns.
